I haven't posted to the local communities before but I wanted to put the feelers out for those with the skills for DIY electrical work. I have a custom job I want to do to replace my mechanical and electric fans. I found some posts where other Jeepers have used a Taurus fan or Audi A6 dual fan set up to get better cooling.

I'm illiterate when it comes to electrical stuff. I'm not sure what relays to buy, do I need a resistor for a dual speed set up, where to get the right wiring (gauge)?

I'd travel within the southeast NC, northeast SC area to your location to get the help/advice I need. I'm tight on money but could pay a feasible amount if necessary.

I'm about 2 hours form you and have never done that either. Maybe UNCC will chime in. He might know more about it. We could use my shop on a Saturday and all learn.... After looking at the OP again I think he wants to replace his mechanical fan with one or the other. No reason IMHO to replace the e-fan already there.

Yeah, it works fine. I just don't understand the benefits of removing the mech fan and adding an E-fan. If anything you're losing cooling capacity by doing that.

Don't use a ford starter relay!!!

Golf cart relays are cheap and easy to find. To be completely honest, after fitting the Taurus fan (a lot harder than you would expect), buying the temp switch and relay and wiring, how much of a pain it was to me, I would suggest just saving up your money and getting the Dirtbound triple fan set-up.

If you are set on doing a Taurus fan though I will refresh my memory and help.
