Hey all. I went camping & drove around Rampart Range (between Monument & Woodland Park, CO) this weekend with friends and family. Never taken my Jeep out before, so it was fun to get to know how my car handles and learn some new interesting things about 4WD, heh... Anyway, this was the trip I told you all we were taking a Honda Element on. The Element was fine, but then again... it was parked for the majority of the trip. Here's some pics...

The Honda...

Everybody likes to write on a dirty XJ

There was this other good trail we went off of (322, if you know it) and the camera was dead. Too bad, cuz that was the best trail we went on. Everything else was pretty sissy, but still fun. I did actually get stuck for a little while because my 4WL wasn't staying engaged for some reason. I learned a lot about my 4WD and how to FULLY engage it. And how you shouldn't engage it on a hill. Hehe... More here, if you want.

EDIT: Also, XJ's rule for someone 5'6" or less to sleep in when the back seats are down! I will always take my XJ camping now because it's much more fun to sleep in a car than a tent when the wind is blowing ALL night, IMO. This trip just made me realize how practacle Cherokee's are, in all aspects.

wheeling stock is the best thing i ever did. i had a lot of fun wheeling stock and mildly-modded.

Heh, well thanks for not giving me crap about it, guys! I quite enjoy my Jeep just the way she is... for now. Need $, but what else is new. The only problem I ran into is that I bottomed out about three times : / Then again, my leafs are shot and she rides kinda low anyway.

just keep wheeling it stock and have fun with it. as for bottoming out........that's normal when wheeling. just make sure the important stuff is protected with skid plates and it'll be alight :)

Yeah, it was just my trailer hitch getting in the way, from what I know, which I don't mind getting beaten up.

sometimes....i wish mine was stock again...:dunno:

Glad to see nothing broke, 'lissa!

And... also glad you got to finally find out the joys of wheelin' an XJ. Now I've gotta show you some good spots down here that you can test it out on, eh?

I'm glad you posted this.. I think, like you I have been afraid of the scrutiny of those "real off-roaders" for wheeling stock.

As for the rest of you, thanks for affirming such actions. Hopefully I will take my first trip soon too (damn that school, and work!).

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not planning on my stock being stock much longer!!!

no shame in wheeling stock. we all gotta start somewhere. i like taking my wife's almost stock XJ and exploring easy trails and just relaxing.

Well, I'm glad this affected you well. Tell us about your first trip, okay? Don't forget the camera (and to charge it)!

x2 on wheeling stock, my trail jeep on 34's broke down on the way to windrock yesterday so i drove the dd on 31's and had a blast, thinkin about doin it more often now......

looks like you had fun! :) your link to the pics doesn't work, though... it wants me to login to your account, and I don't know your password ;)

my XJ is still stock, and it's done quite well. followed the TJs on the blue trails, and even a black trail. got compliments from all the guys saying how impressed they were. hehe EGO BOOST! of course, I did trash my crossmember, but $20 to a guy parting out a wrecked XJ fixed that. :-D

I had planned to keep my XJ stock until next year, but my fingers keep typing searches onto ebay for "cherokee coil spacer" and "cherokee shacke", so I dunno how long I'll be able to keep it stock :-D I at least want to replace the sagging stock suspension (formerly an abused lease vehicle, I think).

gonna run Paragon at NACFest next month, that should be fun, I've only been through Paragon as a passenger.

Yeah, stock is fun, but I hear yah. I look every second of every day for lifts, tires, parts, whatever. It's hard to want what I can't have at the moment!

Sorry about the link, I just made that account and it wasn't public yet, so that old link should work, or else try here.
