My other MJ

1999mj

This is my other MJ that I have been working on (along with the 99MJ) to be kind of a weekend wheeler DD. She's getting close to road ready in a couple more weeks.

Started out with this 88 Chief with a blown engine for a couple hundred bucks.

I know its a bit off topic......

What is it like having a SOA lift for a daily driver (or just on the street in general) on a MJ?

I am getting ready to do a SOA lift to relplace my D35 with a 8.25 on my 88 MJ.

They ride awesome on the street since it's still stock MJ leafs. If you do it with an 8.25 be prepared to net about 5".

Crap that just means I will now have to but 1" coil spacers. :D

On the rear, how did you mount your shocks?

I was thinking about mounting shocks by using thoses YJ U-bolt top plate thingy's.

I used the stock upper mounts and got a set of premade weld on lower mounts from Ruff Stuff. but I think I'm going to be changing that around a little bit

I hate to hijack 1999MJ's thread but this is another way of doing it...these are trailer shackles from Northern Tool. If you chop those in half, you can weld them onto the axle and it accepts a 1/2" bolt IIRC. This is my setup...it's not perfect, but it works pretty well and it was cheap!

What knuckles are you running?

The dodge in the back round does have a lift. It's a 6". Looks like there's alot of wheel well because I have the smaller tires on it for the winter (315/75/17's) I usually run 37's on it.

Here's a pic with the 37's
