My new pup camper

Hell Yeah Mark, I'm gonna be looking for one also!

if you dont like the pop up thing you should just find a scamp.

fiberglass so you wont have to worry about too much rot or weight either.

great little trailers, just wish i could afford one.

I'm going to look at a 1990 coleman this weekend Mark. $500 w/ no tears in the canvas and her husband recently resealed all the corners and such.

That's a good deal. I gave 8 for mine and it's a '93.

I need to get a bumper made for the rear that can double as a generator carrrier.

Two birds...one stone!

awesome mark!

id love to haul ours to the offroad parks for the weekend. but i need the tow rig for the xj.

my parents use it all the time. it was a retired fema trailer that was only used for a weekend then put into storage. dad and i cleaned it up and replaced a window and have been using ever since. got it at an auction.

heres some pics.

were a big camping family. we tend to camp on lakes and haul our boat for a good week or two.

we used to rock a popup style camper. but it started breaking support cables. so we ditched that.

i really love the idea of a 'trail' camper like stump has done. and i believe you have a good solid platform.

I used to camp when I was a kid and haven't been in years on a regular basis. I'm looking forward to getting it out and using it but not only for trail rides but just any ole weekend I feel like getting out.

We've got a screened in porch that's about a 12' x 12' and I've also got an EZ up. The camper has a little awning on it and it'll cover the entrance and the outside stove that hooks to the trailer but it's not quite big enough.

Well, when I got home today I decided to put the pup back up and check out the awning and hook up the water and check the electrical system on it.

The awning works good...except...there are no brackets on the trailer to attatch the spreader poles that hold the awning tight. It appears to be a factory awning but the owners manual doesn't mention anything about one. It may have been an added dealer option. I have an idea for my brackets and will post a pic when I get them made to see what you think.

As for the water system, I bought a new RV hose and a pressure regulator and hooked it all up. Turned on the water and all worked as should have. I even had a new faucet that I hadn't expected. I found a "drip" from the outside connection to the inside water line. It got dark on me but I think a new hose clamp will fix the problem. I wasn't sure if I would like the sink, but turns out it'll do just what I need it to. Which isn't much...:D

As for the electrical system, I've got a dead battery in it and two shot bulbs. Go figure. It's a new Energizer deep cycle battery but the interior lights were left on. Battery is on the trickle charger and I'll check it tomorrow. It has two separate systems in it. The 110V AC system powers all the receptacles (2 inside and 1 outside) and the 12V DC powers the two interior lights and the step light. It has a converter in it that when plugged into 110V, it converts it to 12V to run the lights. I plan on getting a solar charging unit to keep the battery up when in the woods and away from power.

I'm excited about this little trailer and what I'll be able to do with it.

Going to look at my possible new camper after work today Mark. I am thinking I can probably talk them down to $400 on it. Their water heater just went out. Sucks for them but It may work in my favor.

it could be the awning was just meant to be anchored to the ground with tent stakes or something as opposed to having brackets on the trailer itself.

I thought that at first but under one of the beds I found three poles that look like they "spread" the awning tight. They're the right length and they "fit" into the metal frame at the edge of the awning. I got some brackets made today and I'll post up some pictures of it and see what you think.

Good deal. Hopefully you'll be able to get it. I can't wait to camp in a trailer instead of a tent.:D

I hear ya there mark. The guy never called me today so it looks like I will be waiting a little longer.

That's a bummer. Maybe tomorrow...

Just got back from a trip... slept like a baby for 4 nights. Three words, Memory Foam Mattress.

Glad you guys are getting the compact camper bug, they are a lot of fun!

I had to weld a piece of 1/8 on the bottom of my ball mount to get it to stop rattling around in the receiver in the JCR bumper.

When I tried to put it in the AJ's bumper, it wouldn't fit. I had to cut it off.
