Was leaving the parking lot of my friends work after picking her up with my cherokee full of my friends. we pulled out of the parking lot and came to a stop because of traffic and shortly after stopping a car full of stupid ass kids leaving sunsplash hit me from behind at 50mph and showed no signs of stopping. 3 of my passengers had to go to the hospital but everyone ended up being ok. No one was hurt in the other car. They said they had it floored coming out of the parking lot so they could beat traffic and were playing with the stereo at the same time looked up and met the back of my cherokee. Me jeep is mangled and totalled. I really hate stupid people. not that my life could get any worse at the moment and i had my friends get hurt and i lost my pride and joy. FORGET PEOPLE seriously....

I will have pics up later of the jeep i have to go by there and grab my stereo and CB radio cause thats the only thing salvagable

hell, the hands free law in California actually made it worse because people think that texting is legal...

Sorry to hear about your incident. Hopefully you'll get some insurance kickback from that to cover your loss.

Its too bad you cant beat the shit out of that punk kid, i dont think i could've stoped myself if i was you

Sorry to hear about your Jeep. I worry about getting hit everytime I drive past Sun Spash.

I know where to find a great condition 2000 XJ (red) with 103k miles that is screaming for a lift and someone to de-mall it and take it on the trail. I believe it can be had for around $4500.

PM me if you want a good replacement. I can drive by and get the phone #.

thanks everyone and yea it was a little hard to contain myself. i did have cops helping me do that though. just had to keep in mind they wernt worth it and i could do jail time. but im only 19 and im in a very ugly money situation do to loan and credit cards which ironically were all for the jeep. so now im in debt and have no truck. im only gonna get 1500 for the cherokee. so thats my budget range :(.

Oh, dang. Well, in case you don't know about it, you need to check out the vehicles at Sierra College during the weekends (Friday 5 pm - Sunday). I have seen many older Cherokees there for that kind of $.

Smaller cars are getting a higher price due to the gas prices. You may do well getting a lower price with a gas hog like an XJ.

and as far as the gas mileage goes... pay the lower price for the gas hog, and by the time you make up the difference in gas money between the hog, and the eco car, you'll probably have a new car anyways.....

$1500!? I hope you didn't already settle. I got 3800 for my 87' when totaled (AAA), Ins. Co. WILL always try to "lo ball" you.
I did my own negotiations, my cheap ins. was surprised when I let them in on all the goings on after all was settled.
I laughed when they tried to offer me 1800, and told them NO WAY!
I then got into details of why "my" Jeep was different.
They called back next day with another $1000,
I still told them no and all the money I dumped into it. And I need a rental!
Used the rental Mazda 6 to pick up 94' D30 @ P&P. I had rental for 6wks.
Have you put any money into it in the past year? Do you have reciepts?
They'll usually prorate you.

i have some reciepts but stuff like my lift and other things i dont have reciepts for you know like good deals from friends and stuff. could i send you pics of it and could you give me an idea of how much i can get for it?

One of the best ways to get a fair deal from the insurance company is to bring current ads of jeeps simular to yours in year and added features. Most insurance companies will look at how much it will take to replace the vehicle and that is how much you get minus your deductable. Bring in the highest priced compairable ads.

You also should have the option to buy back your jeep from the insurance company at a junk yard rate. Then you can swap your parts over.

you might try asking on here if anyone has some reciepts for various parts etc... can't hurt... I know I had to go that route on a boat stereo some years back and it paid off. Insurance company was a pain but took them in the end and paid up.

good luck and never take there first offer!!! being 19, bring your parents into the mix if you are able or need to...CYA !!!

Using someone else's receipts would be a bit of insurance fraud. I think the last thing he needs is to get sent to prison for insurance fraud. That could hurt...

To the OP: I feel for you. Got hit from behind by a car load of "undocumented workers" (ahem..illegals!...ahem, sorry, something in my throat... ;)) in mid 99 and got screwed cuz they had no insurance. Our insurance paid for our vehicle but still sucked. Make sure you don't just go for their first offer. Try for more. May end up being able to afford an even better Jeep as replacement...:D

Not if he's just providing proof of approximate value of parts... as long as he said that they were reciepts from other people's purchases of the same things... it's fightable and win-able in court if needs be, and it would almost likely never get there...

I am really sorry to hear that you were hit, and that another XJ bit the dust.
A rear end collision at 50 mph well you, and your passengers, are very lucky to be ok.

One thing that caught my eye. Did I understand correctly? You are 19 and a "kid" hit you? Was the driver a fetus?

:D

haha that was a good one. Was he possibly refering to maturity(spelling?) wise?

Curious did the Police cite the kid? 22350 CVC 22106 cvc or just right the report and go back to patrol.

And yes I was once able to use other peoples receipts ina civil action (suing) when someone hit my old chevy truck, and I did not have my receipts anymore. I just declared they were the same parts under oath was all. :gee:
