My headgasket just blew and im going to do a 4.5 stroker. The engine is an 88 Renix 4.0 (Rig is an 87 Laredo) 10K on the lower end with replaced timing chain, harmonic balancer, freeze plugs etc. The rest of the motor (including head) has 170K on it. Below is my build plan, please let me know what suggestions you have for me, and any advice. One of the most important things about this build is for the motor to run on 87 Octane because it is my daily driver.

87 YJ 4.2 connecting rods (new)
87 YJ 4.2 crankshaft (new)
rebuilt Renix head
24 lb pr hr injectors (brand?)
new rings
original pistons
freeflow exhaust (already have it)
oem headgasket?
cam (reccomendations?)
180 degree thermostat

I have searched on NAXJA about strokers before, but the reason I posted a new thread is for a definitve answer on my particular build, thanks.

Based on my personal experience, I would go with 21# injectors

I'm using the Ford 24# injectors but I had to build a MAP adjuster to get it to run lean enough.

I run the cheapest pump gas I can get. The secret is in the quench height. I am running the H802cp pistons with the block decked .25 and the thin performance MOPAR head gasket. I have roughly 100k on the motor and get 21mpg on the highway with 35's.

O I see. So I need to figure out what quench height is acceptable for 87 Octane. I plan on using standard bore pistons. That's amazing to get that kind of mileage on a stroker with that many miles and 35s, good work! :)
