Managed to knab this off Craigslist not too long ago. Its a 1991 Laredo with about 186k on the ticker. It runs great with no unforseen problems thankfully. So far I have into it:

$400 - purchase price
$200 - Pioneer DEH-7800MP Stereo, wiring, etc.
$10 - New Tail Light
$65 - Title transfer, Tags, Registration
~$100 - Completely new braking system (converted to brakes off a '97 XJ, new rotors, brake pads all around, brake hardware, etc.)

Set of UltraStar's I plan on putting on whenever I put new tires on...can't beat $35 for the set :D (it pays at times to work at a tire chain!)

Needless to say now having the DD means BIG plans for the trail rig (well I already had big plans, but now they can start :firedevil) not shabby for about $800 total eh?

:rof: Mine is a 94 with 115,000 on it, interior very clean, pretty straight body. A friend blew the engine in it so I scooped it up for $200 bone stock. Another friend had an engine and needed a wheel for his GSXR and I had a wheel but needed the engine. Nice swap if I do say so myself. $3500 total with 8'' LA lift, new 35'' skins, 8.8 rear, locker for 8.8 and gears for front and rear. That figure also includes my sye and drive shafts along with the other crap I bought thats not on it yet. I love good deals.
Here it is before....

From the evil thoughts department: imagine turning one of these into a competative roadracer. What yall are paying (similar to what I got my rig for), would allow me to build a vehicle for this: http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/. That's were I've been and frankenstang and I have been up to for the last coupla months, besides a deployment or two.

There was an XJ there this year. Sorry I didn't get any pics. If I find any from others that were there, I'll post them.

Wow nice pickup!!! I like the 242 Select Trac it has it in from your pics. I have a daily driver and a wheeler XJs and that's the way to go. I would however, suggest having a 87-96' wheeler because it's way easier to get parts for them (84'-96') compared to 97'-01' and being more expensive, but I like both the newer and old XJs, I have one of each a 91' 2 dr wheeler and a 98' 2 dr daily driver...love them 2 dr XJs!!!

Yeah part of me regrets making the '98 into a Trail Rig, but theres not much I can do now. I know what ya mean about getting parts for it, can be a real PITA. But soon enough I won't be worrying about that as there won't be much of the actual jeep left. Funny thing is, I get a DD, but haven't driven it in over a week. I mainly have it for when the white XJ goes under the knife, otherwise I just switch up driving duties if im not riding by bike.

I have a $200 98 xj that is damn well built for about 3k-3.5k. I have a daily driver s10, but I drive the jeep more just becasue it makes me happy!
