it will be cheaper, and you'll not have custom things.
You want the mazda transmission from a not 4.0 truck.
It has deeper ratios than the 4.0 one.

Will a Mazda Trans from a 97 3.0 truck work? I am geting back to it after life stuff got in the way. and I obtained a GL1500 wing with a sidecar.
