As many of you know, Dellstopjeep decided to part out his Jeep. I headed over to the chop shop today to lend a hand. The axles, suspension, and armor had all already been removed. Today was set aside for the power train.
This is what I found when I arrived. That's safe right?
Nobody died during the transmission removal. Motor was the next task. Darren and Eric already disconnected all the wiring and hoses.
We didn't have any chain for the engine hoist, so we figured we could use a 30ft tow strap instead. First step was lifting the motor to take the tension off the mount bolts. That's safe right?
Needless to say that didn't work, and put the motor at an awkward angle.
Eric and I made a run to Ace for some chain. Having the right tools for the job makes life easier.
Separation.
Success.
Still a few things to pull off. Eric attempting to cut off his cross member mounts that were stitch welded on.
Nut inside the frame broke? Who cares, cut an access hole!
Darren working on dash removal.
BPB showed up to pick up the motor, and pull as many free parts as he could.
Mustache Ride will live on through the Nail Salon. I snagged the rear 5125's for the Nail Salon. I also cut off Eric's stand off bars to use on my rock sliders whenever I get around to building them.
Looking pretty empty.
Pretty much got all the useable parts off it. I believe the next step is scrapper. Sounds like Eric has a plan, so hopefully he'll update this with progress pictures.
