I have the mickey thompson baja claw radials and they are terribly rough at low speeds and i was wondering if all mud tires were like this or just these? and what are a good mud tire that are smooth at low speeds?

True, you do need to keep the wheel speed up to keep the MTR's clean. But no complaints.

I love my Toyo M/T's. I had 2 sets of MTR's prior to the Toyos and I was very happy with them also. I also had a set of the Firestones and I was not impressed (weak sidewalls). I also had a set of the Dunlops and I was not impressed either but for the price I couldnt really complain. I personally have never had an issue with any of my tires being excessively noisy but I rotate and check the balance every oil change so that may be why. I know every M/T tire has a little noise and thats just the way it is. I have heard MTR's that just scream at highway speeds but mine never did. Proper inflation also plays a part in how your tire wears. You have to find out what pressure works best for your rig and the particular tire you are running. Also if you are lifted 3 inches or more you should have longer or adjustable lower control arms to adjust the caster in the front end. That can lead to abnormal tire wear which can result in a noisy tire also.

My MTR's scream so bad at hiway speed you cant hear the radio, 3 months worth of playing with the air pressure and counting...they cant wear out fast enough for me.

Claws are notorious for being horrid on the road. they look sweet tho.

Get a set of bias Swampers, run them for 15000 miles (or when they wear out, whichever comes first) then whatever you put on after that will be smooth and quiet.

MTR's are the best tire out there, but they are for sure *NOT* a mud tire.

MTR's are NOT quiet. Even the size that came stock on the Rubicon howls louder than my 35" BFG Mt's.

You could hear my BFG MT's from a block away. My MT/R's are as quiet my street tires on my pickup. I think a lot of it has to do with how they are balanced and how they are wearing in, and a lot less to do with tread. I've heard loud BFG's, loud MTR's, loud Toyo's..

I had Dunlops. LOUD and they felt funny around 20-30 mph.

Now I have Firestones, no louder than you would expect. They ride like most other mud tires.

I also have a set of el-cheapo Mud Country tires. Quite quiet, but they feel skittish on wet pavement....

Kumho Road Venture MT KL71...Price good too compared to other M/Ts
