Moving from California to Missouri.

So it is decided, me and my family is going to be moving to Missouri:clap:. Just curious how many of you guys are in Missouri? I'm going to be moving to Springfield. Any good wheeling spots around Missouri? :wave:

I think I am one of the only active Missouri members left aroud here! I lived in Springfield for 5 years while going to college and to be honest with you I would sell the farm and move back there tomorrow if the opportunity presented itself. There is some great wheeling in southern Missouri. Check out www.smorr.net and it is like 20 minutes from Springfield. There are other places as well within a few hours of there too. I am in north centeral Missouri now so Springfield is about 4.5-5 hours away from me, but I make it down there from time to time and try to hit up SMORR at least once a year if not more. There is also Kansas Rocks over by Ft Scott, KS that has a nice park and good wheeling..but if it has rainded 48 hours before you go, hold off unles you love mud slicked trails. There is alos a new park opening in Harris, MO at the Middle of Nowhere Ranch and it will mainly be easier trails with some spots of moderate terrain, but no rocks to speak of. Welcome to the MWC!

I'm originally a Southern Californian. Live just south of Springfield now. Plenty of places to wheel around here, but nothing like the vast deserts outside Los Angeles. J&D off-road park is a good wheelin spot in Joplin, we just wheeled there this weekend. SMORR is about 30-40 minutes from Springfield, great spot. Disney, Ok is only 2-3 hours away, for some awesome crawling. Flat Nasty in Jadwin, Mo only a couple hours away. Kansas Rocks is 2-3 hours away. D-day offroad park 1.5 hours away. Plenty of options.

J&D are my old stopmin grounds...I grew up riding motorcycles and quads all over those old chat piles...I have wheeled it a few times before J&D took the lease on it...always a good time down there. I need to drag my pile down there and see what has changed over the years. :thumbup:

How long since you've been there? The biggest change since I used to wheel there almost daily 8-10 years ago, is the number of trails has probably doubled. Of all of the places I've wheeled, Joplin has to be the most densely packed with trails. It's not near as big as some of the other spots, but I'll bet it's up there on "miles of trails" with most places.

It was about 3-4 years ago when I was last there, what I had noticed is that they had really opened up some of the ATV trails into vehicle trails and it was a fun park to play around in. I wish there was a bit more rock like Disney, but the mixture of terrain is fun in Joplin. I still need to hit up Flat Nasty, but I love SMORR and Disney and KS Rocks is not too bad if it is dry...if it has rained, I hate that place.

I live in Saint Louis and have a list of 9 off road Parks within 3 hours drive from my house.. I only made It to 2 of them last year but the plan is to try and hit all of them at least once to check them out.

I really liked Washita offroad park in farmington mo from camp you can see way up in the hills a high hilltop that's bare it's caled Bald Knob it's all rock up there so no trees on the hilltop. Took us all day to wheel up and see the great view of rolling hills and green trees for miles. And wheel back down to camp..

Saint Joe state park is a great place if you like atv's and dirtbikes.

I haven't been to Flat Nasty but it looks cool and one of it's trails was rated B.F. Goodrinch top trails for our area .

hannibal rocks is another..

I spent Alot of time in Cali it's nice for a visit but there's nothing like home.. (although I really liked living in Co too)

Ahhhhhhh - so you would be the transplant trade-off (my parents are moving back to CA, from MO, around July). :laugh3:

Aside from all the parks and trails that the others have mentioned, be aware that in MO you can't just turn down whatever dirt road / trail you see, like you can in CA. That MO dirt road / trail / big fun open 4x4 area with the bad ass mudpit is 99.99999% going to be private property and more than likely the landowner won't take too kindly to you trespassing and will convey this with buckshot.

From what I'm aware, all the pretty girls in MO are lesbians..

Prepare yourself for hillbilly heaven, where the common hillbilly has one wall of the two single wides that are pushed together dominated by a 60" HDTV, with no cable / satellite..
