Mojo - V2.1

Dude, sewing is woman's work. Maybe next you can post about the casserole you're making or the sweet job vacuuming you just did.

So... I made a casserole yesterday.. then vacuumed.. I was pretty impressed with the orderly vacume tracks.. Almost made it to facebook, I was so impressed.

I wish I could sew. That's some good shxt.

Did you have to get a special attachement or anything for the machine? or just a different needle? Thats awesome.

Nice Tailoring , Rod! I am assuming that you left enough "flex" in the fabric to account for the colder days (shrinkage factor)?

I am planning bungee ties for the rear bed cover to compensate for that. as for the top window portion, im making it to wrap over the sides and roof and then snap down. Guess ill shoot for installing the snaps on a colder day.... its kind of a guessing game as to how much it will shrink :wierd:

I had a Tonneau (sp?) on a truck once that had snaps all the way around - pain in the ass to snap when it was cold. I had to grip it and pull using pliers. Eventually it got torn up :(

My buddy used to put his in the oven befor putting it back on, on cold days

I had to break out the needle and thread on Tuesday to stitch up a couple of tears in my CJ's bikini top. Let me tell you, being adequate with a needle and thread is an underrated skill. I think I'll go over the area with some of that vinyl repair goo to strengthen and seal it.

Im thinking to try and compensate for the cold shrinkage, i will leave it out overnite and then install the snaps on the jeep early in the morning while its still semi cold out. Hopefully doing it this time of year (45F ish) will allow for some room to contract and expand. Im hoping installing it cold, i wont have to deal with it expanding and being overly big, since it wont be used much during the summer months.

Not sure if im over thinking this or not ? But it should be completed this weekend, so we will find out soon enough :conceited

Toss it in the freezer the night before you do all your work.

after a very long very stressfull weekend, you can finally start to see the finished product. Had a ton of issues with the damn machine, so excuse the crappy stitch work.

The vinyl window. Velcro on all for sides so it can be completely removed.

This is what it will look like from the outside with the window in. Sewed in some heavy gauge wire (like coat hanger stuff) for the window frame, so it holds the shape.

The back part that i really dont want anyone to see...

Looks like ass, but it turned out pretty strong. So hopefully it will hold up for a while.

Still need to install the rest of the grommets around the back bed portion, and finish installing a few more snaps on the sides of the roof.

Nice job Rod. I could never pull that off.

well, its almost done. just need to figure out how to tighten up the top corners some. it ended up more water resistent than water "proof", but it should still help keep the elements out this winter... i hope.

That looks good Rod!

The only thing that has me scratching my head, is won't the water be almost forced inside the cab with the rear window being attached on the top like that? Without some sort of lip in front of it, it seems like the water will go right under the tabs.

Yup :banghead: but the way the tube is that frames the roof, there wasn't much of a choice.

I'm open to suggestions for round 2. I have enough vinyl to redo it, but i figured i'd give it some time and see what actually happens first, then try and improve on it...
