MJ vs S10

Just outta curiosity, what would it take to get a MJ competitive with a turbo s10 (not syclone, just a 4.3 with a turbo tossed on with minor bolt ons)?

you need a 440 with meth, nitrous, and a twin turbo setup

LS1, twin turbos, nitrous, lots of tire. Run it in 4 hi and be sure you launch with at least 10 psi spooled in.

Thats all huh? Sounds good to me
If all he has is a stock 4.3 and minor bolt ons plus a turbo, wouldn't it make sense that doing similar work to your 4.0 would yield similar results? ;) The 4.0 and 4.3 are similar power wise.

i would assume the internals are a bit different for a syclone. lower compression at least. same with the air/fuel management

So the non syclone with a turbo added would have a higher compression ratio
Yep. Bro had a typhoon, sweet truck if you don't mind 10 mpg.

Honestly, a home built s10 with a turbo could be pretty fast or pretty slow. Several things to consider...

1. Did he swap the AWD t-case in?? Without it traction will be non existant.
2. Was the motor built with the intent to turbo? If not, he's probably under 8 psi and only just over 200hp at the wheels.
3. Is the truck stock otherwise, no big tires, lift, gutted interior, etc. A stock S10 does weigh a bit more than a comanche i'm pretty sure.
4. Run them, video, post results.

I think he got a turbo outta duramax.....2wd and i know some engines respond muuuuuch better than other with turbos....didnt know if the 4.3 was one of them. No internal work. stock rear, full interior, 15" wheels idk if their stock.

Wouldn't a Duramax turbo on a 4.3 be waaay too much without extensive mods to take advantage of the size of that turbo?

I would think the s-10 would need to have a high stall torque converter to take advantage of such a big turbo. I don't know the size of a Duramax turbo, but it has to be quite a bit bigger than even a factory Typhoon/Syclone turbo, which is sized to come on around 1800-2000rpm.

I had a Typhoon too, and put a bigger turbo on it, among many other mods. Also swapped in a 2800rpm stall TC. Was VERY quick.... and VERY scarey to drive in 2wd, especially on wet roads. I broke the front prop shaft smoking all four tires, and spent 2 weeks smoking the rear tires in that truck.... Could kick it down into passing gear rolling along at 40-50mph, and smoke the rear tires. It was a fun two weeks!
