MJ Tail Light Options

Hey guys,

Wanting to see what tail lights guys have put in their MJs. Specifically, has anyone tried to french tails from another vehicle into an MJ? Are there any vehicles tails that would look right in an MJ bed? As much as I like MJs, their rare tail lights are not my favorite feature. One of my friends parks on the street and has now had 2 driver's side tails busted by mirrors clipping them. I would just like to see some ideas if anyone has them.

I'm wondering if any could be swapped out of newer vehicles that would be more readily available, such as GMs, Chevys, Dodges etc. I realize this would require body work to the bed but wondered if it would be worth it for a custom look/easier parts availability.

Check out ComancheClub.com or do a google image search "tail lights comancheclub" and you'll find some stuff.

The 1st gen Dakota tails have been used, but still not a great fit in the opening and obviously some bracket fab needed to mount them.

If breakage is a concern, I'll second the idea that making some boxes and using some LED lights would be the better option.

Not sure what other tail lights would fit well. I'll have to think about it a bit next time I am at the yard.

the all red euro 97+ lights wouldn't look bad at all. THe top is cut to match the body line in the bed almost perfectly.

Don't believe so. AFAIK all mine are plain red, no outlining.

I have a good driver's with the black outlines.

sadly guardrail killed the passenger one.

I need a set too. I wish someone would make and sell ones made with Trailer LED lamps and steel shell. I've seen a few made that way.

the silver outlining is just some paint. I don't care for the look so those were the first ones to go from my stash.

Get some RC car body paint and use that, it's plastic safe. just mask off the peaks and brush it on.

16g sheet metal....a hand full of sheetmetal screws...(4) 4 inch trailer lights.

Or the universal chrome duplicolor, I did this tail light before I decoded against chrome and shiny. just dont put tape on soft clear....

Fyi 1st gen s10 tail lights will fit inside of tail boxes. Looks like crap bit keeps you legal, thats how i got my comanche. unfortunately i cant find the pictures of the jeep before i swapped boxes
