MJ gauge cluster OEM?????

I did the search on cluster interchanges, So I know what I want to do is doable (and been done many times before  )

But here is my question: Did the factory gauge cluster with full gauges and Tach for the '87-'90 XJ/MJ Ever come with the Colume shift Automatic. I know I don't 'need' the little gear indicator to shift but I'm not the primary driver of this rig. An '89 MJ with idiot lights and shift indicator in cluster.

I'm asking here if this ever came this way (Tach w/shift indicator)
So I don't spend weeks/months searching the Pick'n'Pulls in vain.

If it did then I'll keep hunting, If not then 'oh-well'.......

Thanks,

Eric

If they did ever come that way, good luck finding one. I would bet that most of the MJ's with a tach instrument cluster came with a floor shift auto. I am assuming that most if not all of the mJ's with a tach came with a 6cyl, and that with an auto, it got a floor shifter and console. I ended up using the cluster with no shift indicator, confuses anybody that drives it.
Good luck, I hope somebody has a better answer for you.

I know it would be like finding a needle in a haystack, but I'm just want to know if it is improbably or impossible :D

BTW, this MJ came with 4.0L/auto/ bench seat /long bed with the 1 tonne package (rear D-44) :D

Only thing I don't like about it is the Vac-center-disconnect for the front D-30.

I suspect it came with the colume shift 'cause it was a base trim package.

No floor shift autos ever had the indicator in the guage cluster like the MJ Metric Tons do. This means you're, as I once was, searching for the impossible.

I've owned ONE MJ that was auto column shift and had it, but not factory, someone cut out w/ a dremel the appropriate slot(rather sloppily)(swapped in XJ limited guage cluster they did) and you could see the shift needle ok cause of the crooked hole made for the needle. It was an 88 Pioneer bench seat.

The 86 auto 2.5L MJ I had was similar to my 84 CJ column, mounted on the column the shift indicator was.
