Anyone interested drove past a parked MJ for sale today here in SF.

1988 Pioneer Short bed.
4.0/5 spd/ camper shell
204K miles
Besides normal oxidation on the hood roof only other body damage was the lower skirt of the bed in front of the left rear wheel was caved in. Interrior was dirty, didn't notice any rips in the seats but did on the passenger door trim. The material for the headliner was gone, just the foam left.

Posted for $950. It's parked on Lawton street between 10th & 11th Avenues.

You want another comanche?!? What, you trying to buy as many jeeps as Troy? ;)

Heah, what so bad about that? ;) Jeeps are awesome. My wrangler is still for sale, but I have to finish smogging it 1st if I sell in Cal. I tried to sell it 3 times on ebay, but it only got up to $3K I want $7K now or $8K o.b.o. when it is smogged. Then I'll be down to only 2 jeeps my 98' zj and 91' xj. I really like the full size SJ's. Plus you can find them cheap.

Watch out that might be a 2wd Peugot (puke) 5 speed. I think you could find them up to 1990 at least that was the case with the yj's. I have seen lots of comanche in Sac and they should be pretty cheap. Phil, are you still leaning towards getting another mj? You could probably find quite a few xj's before you find a decent mj.

I won't choose anything until I have an insurance check in my hot little hands. All I know right now is I don't want a 4-door XJ and I don't know how to drive a stick yet.

Everyone,
It is a 4wd MJ, I didn't crawl under it to verify trans, but looked in the window and the shift knob was for a 5-spd. The emblem on the tailgate stated 4.0

Phil, don't you live in Davis? I'm an Aggie dad, taught my daughter to drive a stick there because it's so flat.....shouldn't be to hard to learn to drive a stick shift.

It'll definately be a Peugot.

yup it'll be a peugeot, GET IT PHIL!

mine is (was) an 88 4wd, 5spd (peugeot), 4.0, shortbed, just like this one! The tranny had 200,000 miles and still worked flawlessly a few weeks ago when I pulled it, 20,000 miles of that was my abuse. I just swapped in an AW4 that I got from a 94 (with freshly rebuilt t-case) for $250, and now my peugeot is selling on Ebay for almost $300 :D

how much stuff is salvageable off your MJ? rear axle for sure, front?, front lift components?, how are the tires? you'll probably want to do the buyback from insurance to part it out.

Yep, I'm in the flatlands of Davis. Rear axle is good, front probably needs new bushings, hell, I bet all the front suspension needs new bushings, rebuild the RE joints, oh, and a fresh coat of paint on everything. Tires were still holding air when I left, but the front PS flare had melted to the tire. I think it may be the new spare. Anything else, it'll just be what I see when I'm pulling stuff off.

Phil, you could probably make some dough selling pics and desc of the fire to Goodyear and let them know how good the tires held up to the flames. I have 35" mtr's to and know for a fact that they are the best tire I have ever had. I just need lockers to realize their true potential.

Tom, could you get the phone number for me please? Hopefully insurance will come through for me soon and I think I would like to call the owner of this one when insurnance clears.

Who wants to teach me to drive a real transmission? :D

Phone numbers

I'll drive by it again and PM ya tonight. Is there anything you want me to look at while I'm there?
