thought I would offer it here first because I don't want to ship. I am selling my MJ d44 out of an 89 longbed automatic. I can also throw in the old d-shaft. It comes complete minus drums, great starting platform for those that want to do a disk brake conversion. Price is $275. LMK

i got a smokin deal here are the specs...
Front Chevy dana 44 out of 78 chevy truck
Lockrite, 5.38's gears, Bob roggy crossovers steering arm (reemed for large chevy tie rod) new brakes, new superwinch lockouts, newer bearings all around. This axle comes with a spare housing and spare shafts.
and a
Chevy 12 bolt rear out of 78 truck (I know it isn't the best, but should hold up to my driving, not real heavy on the throttle)
5.38's, welded spider gears, blue torch diff cover, blue torch torque bar brakets welded on, new brake lines, new bearings, This axle also comes with an entire spare axle, not sure on ratio, but good for spares.
Then I have to find a d-300. 5.38's are pretty darn low, so I will probably run 35's or 37's

i would definitely avoid 37s with that combo, especially with a manual tranny which is more prone to shock-load the shafts. be sure to weld the caps in the front shafts. If you go leafs up front (or not) hydro-assist will be basically a requirement, I did mine for $110.

With a passenger side diff and D300, you're going to need to seriously hack the floor.

those axles are also very wide, find wheels with as much backspacing as you can without leaving the hubs sticking out much.

5.38s with 35s and a manual will be pretty high RPM on the freeway, but you'll be able to pull 5th gear all the way up the pass :) I'd guess your reasonable top speed will be 70mph.

have fun :D
