Minimum requirements for Dishpan Springs/Holcomb Creek?

I did John Bull east to west on my 31"'s , 3" lift and 1 locker a few weeks ago.
Found it to be MUCH easier than expected. Came out with minor rocker spanks which I expected, have built and installed sliders since. (of course)

After I install my front locker I will try Dishpan. I went up it a couple years ago in my YJ, it can get sketchy quick, and if memory serves, it would be harder than anything I did on JB

Re: Dishpan direction, do you what to go up the waterfall or down ? :scared:

Yeah thy was our group. Loved the MJ!

And to answer the last question if you are headed up from the south or west, take the 18 into Arrowhead and start there running west to East. Otherwise you have to drive all the way into big bear and hit the trails later. That's my take.

We ran this trail at SoCal fest. I have a yj with a 4 inch lift on 33's with a front locker and the only spot I had any sort of trouble was the waterfall. Slid off a rock and high centered with all four wheels off the ground. Jammed a few rocks under the fronts and it came right out. Both of my buddies made it through with no issue. One in a xj with 3 inch lift on 31's with a front locker and the other in a zj with 3.5 lift on 31's with open diffs.

Thanks everyone. I just got back from running both of these trails plus Gold Mountain with my sway bar hooked up the whole time. Don't I feel like an idiot...

The obstacles are much more difficult than I remember. We had an open YJ on 33's with us that we had to drag a little bit up the Dishpan waterfall. At the Holcomb Creek gatekeeper we came across an XJer who had ripped the heads off of his steering box bolts and cracked the frame. The JK on 35's with us couldn't get over the boulders at the entrance to Holcomb Creek, so we met him on the other side.

Also, I was reminded why Gold Mountain is one of those trails that you really only need to do once in your life. So slow and rocky.

We had a great time and I really appreciate the clubs who keep these trails open for us (and who keep up the difficulty by putting large boulders in just the right places.)

Here's a little video from our trip along with a carnage report:

Red TJ: Cracked rear control arm mount
White XJ: Bent tie rod, dented rocker
White YJ: Step smashed into the tub
Red JK: Destroyed front u-joint, missing bearings, destroyed side rails, trashed steering stabilizer, stem ripped off tire.

Most of this happened on the entrance to Holcomb Creek. Great trip!

Just ran dishpan for the first time on sunday we went up the waterfall. my xj is locked front and back on 33's had no issues at all walked up everything fine my pops had his tj open diffs and a stick he struggled on the waterfall but eventually made it

Oh, man, those short wheelbase rigs always make me soooo nervous to watch. I ran this trail a LONG time ago in my long bed '76 Chevy and it just glided around--wasn't even lifted.
