This is a Lockheed/Canadair Model CL-30 Silver Star originally designated CT-33 by the Royal Canadian Air Force and assigned serial
number 21417. In 1968, the Canadians began a redesigantion system and the aircraft became a CT-133, serial number 133417. I believe that this aircraft is on display at the Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington, Yorkshire, England.
This is a British Vickers Model 287 Wellesley two-seat light bomber. The Wellesley first flew on 19 June 1935 and entered operational service in April 1937. A total of 176 aircraft were built. In 1938, three Wellesleys took off from Ismailia Airfield, Egypt, in an attempt to fly to Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, non-stop. Two of the three flew the 7,162 miles (11 526 kilometers) to Darwin in 48 hours. These three aircraft had been modified with additional fuel tanks, a different engine and a third crew member. When World War II started, only four Wellesleys were in service with RAF Bomber Command but 100 had been sent to the Middle East where they were used in combat against the Italian Army. They remained in service until 1941.
