Spring is springing and I'm getting the itch to get out and get into some panfish. We don't have a thread about fishing so I figured I would get one going.

I'm interested to know who else does some fishing besides Kim, Aaron and myself.
What do you like to fish for?
What do you use for bait?
What kind of accessories do you have?
What tips and tricks do you have?

All kinds of information about fishing of any kind at any time of year is encouraged! I want to get some good conversation going.

What do you like to fish for? - Anything
What do you use for bait? - Anything
What kind of accessories do you have? - A good amount beer of my choice for the day
What tips and tricks do you have? - I absolutely suck at fishing on little lakes, and don't really like it all that much unless I'm drinking. I grew up on a charter boat on Lake michigan that my grandfather ran. Still has his boat but we fish alot less.

When I fish for bluegill I use these jigs: www.grizzlyjig.com with a wax worm/beemoth on the end and a bobber on the line. Almost every rod and reel I have is ultralight because since a few years ago I just focus mainly on panfish. 3lb bass are mighty fun to catch on an Ultralight. :D

I love getting into messes of bluegill and perch. They're fun to go after and have a hell of a lot of fight for their size. Getting a little bigger I love catfish. Lots of fun to fight and there's something that I like about pulling in those suckers over 5lbs!

I did a lot more panfishing last year, my 3 year old daughter caught 4 fish all by herself. I just got my her an ultralight for her 4th birthday and she liked it better then all the barbie crap :) I do a little catfishing by my friends place on the black river, they sure are a fun fight after sitting by the river drinking for hours

- red drum, striper, cobia, tautaug, king mackeral, and the occasional trip for sharks...

- seasonal bait, what ever the fish are feeding on. get the cast net out, catch it fresh. artificials work pretty well too though.

- avet, penn, shimano... you want a real stump pulling reel? check out the avet line up.

- dont fall in love with saltwater fishing and then move to Mi.

i havent done any fishing since i moved to Mi. ice fishing seems like a dumb ass activity to me. ill be doing a lot more bass fishing this year, im usually pretty good at it. my father has already started to tear up the stealies.

Big Mouth
Spinners
5' ultra light rod and travel box.
Look for the places that no one else is fishing.

I have both an Illinois and Wisconsin license
, so pretty much anywhere I want to stop I do.

Whenever i go fishing the only thing i can catch is a sunburn

You're doing it wrong!

You should always catch a buzz

I was really into kayak fishing a few years back. We used to fish mainly for bluegill. I haven't been fishing in four years now, but my brother-in-law has enough fishing stories to fill the void.

Since springs finally here its time to renew my license then i'll be back out fishing as well.

-When its comes to fishing im up for anything, but bass perch and walleye have always been my favorite. Im always down for a good fishing trip or just a quick stop, i usually will have a pole or two and my tacklebox with me all summer long. (you never know when you'll find a good spot to fish)
-Bait wise anywhere from spinners, jigs, beetlespins, crayfish or whatever i happen to have in my tacklebox at the time. I'll fish with whatever i got.
-As for accessories im with kmanxj, a fully stocked cooler full of beer and food and im all set. Also if i remember to pack my ipod i'll have pandora on.
-Tips and tricks. i really dont got much besides just go out and throw a line in, eventually you'll get something.

Well goodluck to everyone on the fishing this year, maybe MWC should get a fishing trip together.

Don't diss it till you try it. Fighting a 25lb northern with just line in your hands is ALOT more fun and challenging then having a stupid rod in your hand. But fishing for panfish with your hands and a piece of line is just as much fun. I don't use any kind of fishing rod in the winter.

I haven't been fishing for years. I bought a brand new open face from Walmart years ago. Used it once fishing after midnight for cats and after losing my bait a bunch (I was tired and probably didn't secure it enough), I stopped and started playing with my camera. The pole, that had been used once, has been up at my friends parents cabin on Raccoon Lake for years. I need to get it back so I can try it again. Have a few friends with private ponds and lakes I can fish at.

Where at in WI are you? I'm always up to find another buddy to go fishing with.

i just like to be on the water, generally i don't care what im fishing for. big bass are fun though.

fair enough... i just cant justify sitting in the cold for the first the size of what im used to using for bait.

i will admit though... when you get into big crappie or blue gills, pushing a lb, they are super fun on UL tackle.
