x2!!! you know those semi truck tire pieces you see on the freeway, where it looks like the whole tread just peeled off the tires and flew off? most of those are retreads.

is it possible to find 30" AT's for 300-350 bucks? I'm just wanting a little bigger and nicer looking tire then the stock ones. Is 30" overkill for a stock height?

There's nothing wrong with retreads, I ran them for about 20k miles and had no problems, and neither has anyone else with them. Do some research.

Plus all of those tires I see shreaded to pieces on the side of the highway all seem to be excessively worn......like, it was their time to go.......regardless if they were a retread or not.

So technically they aren't michelins anymore if they are retreaded, they only say so on the tire.

I have about 35K on a set of michelin at's on my daughter's jeep. Quiet, good road grip, even in heavy rain on the mountain roads where we live. I like them alright on the dirt roads, but they are too mild for sand. (Got stuck fust a few feet away from other rigs camping at the beach...) As far as I know, a new tread can be put on most tire carcasses. Have you checked out Hi tech retreads? They put new treads on (mostly, but not limited to) BFG 's. First heard of them in an ad in Jp mag. I recall that a 31" with mild mud tread was less than $60. I don't have the web address handy to pass on, but I can look ...

You should save yourself the hassle and just find a good set of used tires that have most of the tread left on them. There is always someone that is trying to sell a good set of used tires, all you have to do is look for them. In my opinion good quality used tires are a much better way to go then getting retreads of anything.
