Anyone in the Ft. Worth or Arlington area that can help me with the anchor of a front bumper i have...

I am wanting to slim it down a bit and give me a better approach angle and relocate the d-ring mounts.

here is the bumper in question:

The guy that is doing my cage could fix it up nice, if you were interested. He is here in Texarkana though. He does great work, at really reasonable prices though. If you aren't wanting anything crazy done I could do it here at my house. Just slim it down, and such. I have a plasma and mig welder.

how long u figure it would take for you to do it?

I like this bumper for AJ's but cant afford it. So I just thought why not take what i have and change it.

I think we could easily get it fixed up in a couple of hours. Would need a little steel to relocate the shackle mounts, but I am sure I have plent of scrap to work with.

hmmmmm..... new years eve maybe....

i can get some metal that shouldnt be an issue

Kurt (xxmidianxx) has an angle grinder, and mad angle grinder skills as well!!

I have an angle grinder too, just can't weld if I want to add to it.

I swear if I took the bumper off the front ofthe jeep would raise up a couple of inches the damn thing is a XXXXing boat anchor.

Here is kind of what I was thinking......

Remove everything below the white line, and relocate your shackle mounts to where the white blocks are.

If you just wanted to do something like this, we could make quick work of it. If you are wanting to angle the ends back towards the grille more, or move the winch box in closer to the grill we could do that as well, but it would take longer because we would be reworking the entire bumper.

Really? How thick is it?

Will probably buy a set of these for the D-ring mounts:

Here are the specs of the bumper:

XJ TrailBlazer Winch Bumper Package $640.00

Made from 3/16" steel with 1/4" winch mount and mounting arms. Great approach angle, reinforced corners, 3/4" thick D-ring mounts.

I like ur idea and then kinda plate the under side of the bumper as well.

Exactly.... those would be great, cut out so those would slip through the face of the bumper weld them along the front of the bumper, as well as down along your unibody tie ins. Then cut off the part I noted, and maybe even use the part we cut off to kind of finish out the bottom, maybe weld it back on at an angle so it almost looks like small skid.

Ding ding ding... we have a winner!!!

I wanna go learn! Hmm, I don't think i'll be in town for New Years tho..

check out troutindustries.com as well. thats where i get most of my bumper stuff.

my friend needs my welder himself up there but he needs to figure out how to get power to it. if i go up there with it we can jsut have a welding party or something. ill let you know what i find out.

Off the bumper but still metal fab. Have seen a couple of rigs with the "custom" rear brake/blinker. Looks like a couple of plates or maybe 1/2 of a square tube with trailer lights mounted. Any idea what these are made out of exactly? I've seen some that almost look OEM they fit so well.. And some.. Well looks like i did them :)

i would put the d ring mounts on the top edge. that way you d rings dont hang down past the bumper also i would cut the edges off too, it looks like it stick out past your body and with out flares i think it would look better cut off id also almost want to angle the whole front to get a better approach angle.
