I would rather see McCain in... but he appeared to be on an empty battery. It was like a UFC fight and the guy in the "dark" trunks was kickin his ass... I had to turn it off.

Interesting, I am an Obama supporter (yes, big surprise), but I thought McCain held his ground pretty well, especially based on what I have seen of him in the news the past year, and the fact that he is what, 72, already, and he was exhausted from the 24 hour days the last few days running to Washington.....etc., and of course I am already biased against him because of some of his positions.

Just out of curiosity, where do our brothers to the north stand on our presidential choices? Or dont you guys care?
Down here this is the most discussed election in recent history. I dont know if its because of the state of our economy or our military indevours or just because one of them is black and one is a woman.

For sure we care, some more than others.

There is nothing even remotely analogous to a consolidated Canadian view on American politics though. The two main parties here are called the Conservatives and the Liberals and they are the only parties that have ever run the country. I'm glossing over a bunch of technical rabble but that is it in a nut shell. It's all very partisan as having parties with names like those would tend to suggest.

About the only thing that is consistent in Canada compared to the US is that even our most right leaning parties would be considered left of centre by American standards. I chalk that up to having a much more robust social security net that has been entrenched into the psyche of the typical Canadian. It's a byproduct of having such a rural country where public infrastructure would never have been built if it wasn't for a strong Federal government with the mandate and wherewithal to do it. Again, I'm simplifying.

Anyway, to my point...

Most Canadians look at the politics in the US through that "leftist" filter. Some are only able to view American politics though the Canadian experience; others can figure out that the American context is different and see the politics as being more balanced.

In my experience typically most Canadians would side with the Democrats because they perceive them as being closer to the left. The reality is that a Democrat makes our most right leaning party come off as a bunch of Bolsheviks by comparison.

This is all before we do any factoring for personalities. Canadian media seems to prefer Obama as far as I can tell but then I don't read/hear a lot of media so I may be off base there.

LOL okay, you got me there Darky :D

i just loved how Osama...i mean Obama was preaching about he was against the war in iraq and how we needed to end this war as quickly as possible. then not 2min later after McCain talked about how the new serge in troops has actually helped the war, he imediatly said well if im elected then i will attack Iran and Afganastan. WTF? what a freekin idiot, you dont anouce on public tv that you will attack another country if you get elected, and if he is always voting against wars then how does he plan on attacking another country? i hope the voters of the great nation are not stupid enough to let another democrat screw this country like Clinton did.

Not that I like Obama, but we're already in Afghanistan, he just wants to shift the focus back to Afghanistan.
