so... Been living in so cali all my life and so has the wife.. Well with the housing cost as such here as well as the population being as it is (Sucks!)... We are in the process (have been for about a year) of finding a state / city to move to.

The wife has a very promissing position avail to her in denver making 6 figures (same she is here) and we are about to jump at it I think. She has interviews (phone and in person) lined up..

The question is. We flew in to Denver last yr and looked around from westminister over to bolder down to castle rock. We only had one day to look though at homes and dont think we were any better off afterwards then we were before, in regards to where we would like to move.

Maybe some people out there now can help recommend. We are looking for about 400k selling price (more if more land), 4bd, 3-4ba, 2500-3000sq ft without basement in that, 3 car garage and more land the better (just mostly hoping for RV parking). Hoping for a newer home. And no more then like 15mile out of denver.

We live currently in a city where the school (14yo daughter) is the main perk as well as poverty being very low and higher class yet down to earth people. Would like to find that in Co & if poss meet all the above.

Any input would be great!

That shouldn't be a problem finding anything like that right now. If your buying things are good if your selling a house it sucks. The drive part might be abit more than you want but the home land isn't a problem.

A wonderfully unique quality of Denver is the fact that you only need to find a neighborhood
you like near work. You can generally find whatever you like close enough to work that the commute
won't be a killer.

I am a little biased and prefer the west metro area, all of the communities are great and Jefferson
County is by far not the worst I've lived in! You'll be able to flesh out the neighborhoods
pretty quickly once you are here and start looking.

I was once told that you could get a quick feel for the quality of a neighborhood by simply
observing the customers at the nearest 7-11 about 9PM!

I lived in Arvada for 8 years and loved it, but the houses were a little high in the scale for
what you'd be getting. I have moved down to the Green Mountain area and absolutely
love it! (Near Morrison and C-470). The commute downtown has not been a problem
and the houses are much more in line with what I expected for the price.

Good luck!

I just got relocated out here about 4 months ago by my company and found a nice area that is growing well in Broomfield. It's about 10 miles north of Denver and has some really nice new houses. Plus, the neighborhood I live in is full of Jeep enthusiasts. (A big plus) I have my real estate agent's number if you want it. Just PM me and he could help you easily find what your looking for.

what you have described is pretty darn close to the environment where I live (Littleton out by Chatfield Resevoir). I have also lived near the C470-Morrison area and loved it. The only issues though with you may be the RV parking. Most of the newer houses that have gone up are covenant controlled and RV's are a no. In addition, the backyards are not exactly spacious. However I think everybody and their brothers park their RV's at an RV-type park that is approx 5 miles from where I live. My whole area is a new build also so it was nice picking and choosing everything.

However the school system is top-notch, the neighborhood is extremely quiet and no issues with any of the neighbors, lots of kids around etc... plenty to do out there if you Mountain Bike/fish/hike/boat etc..

No question you could probably find a house in your price range that would allow RV parking however I would be surprised (in the SW metro area anyway) if the houses would be newer.

We moved from so cal 3 years ago from san bernardino ,, now live in highlands ranch and love it , lots of houses in your price range , just no room for r/vs and because of homeowners assoc they arn't allowed , but storage lot are reassonable ,, we have never regretted the move colorado is great and the people are too jim

Guess I'm the odd man out, I like south denver but have always worked right next to the centennial airport.
I hate parker (sorry :D) but castle rock works for me.

Highlands ranch is nice. Littleton always interested me but commuting on 470 scares me away (I'd have to with my current job)

In any event I think CO will fit you just fine as long as you won't miss the ocean too much.

I came to CO for school from the SF bay, so its kinda the same thing. I love it here. A lot better then Cali, at least in the 5 months or so that I have been here. Now Im not working, or owning a house, so that will differ, but I really love the weather and the people.

Only thing that Im confused about is this white stuff that sometimes falls from the ski. The locals call it snouw or something like that. Youll understand what Im talking about when you get here.
