Completely unnecessary. But so freakin cool!

I couldn't help but do some photochop with my jeep. Anyone know how much these bad boys are running for? I probably don't even want to know.

I priced them for an Avalanche they had on display one year at a farm show. They said between $6500 and $8000 per set.

Are you sure that wasn't per trak? As of a few years ago, they were closer to $30K per set.

hello hydro assist!

Not a jeep but it is the real thing. I found this one up by my grandparents house in Maine

What material are the tracks? I assume they are only to be used off pavement, what is the max rated speed for the tracks? do they have rubber feet? Do they have a rotational limit, or if youget in a bind could one rotate up into your fenders and tear off the side of your vehicle?

Their site has all of that info. You can use them on the road, but they say you shouldn't go over 35mph on them. I really doubt they would design them to turn so far as to destroy the side of your vehicle, but then again it's the same as having larger tires - you have to accommodate for their size.

Website states they are rated up to 40 mph for their SUV version, but they have a tread surface that puts out 1.5 PSI. So they would float like no other in anything soft or soupy

For some reason there are quite a few up here, the state/towns use them for snowmobile club trail maintenance when the big snow cats are to big/expensive for the local trails. I've seen trackers, YJs, dodge raiders...

i just called and the set that would work on an xj is 29k and they are not very good for rock climbing when you get sideways and putting alot of weight on on track you can actually slip out of it. they are more for mud and snow

i'm up in maine too and i've seen three or four different vehicles with them, usually for grooming snowmobile trails. there is a really nice cherokee parked at a lock cabin on one of the trails and it has a 3" with mattracks. it's huge! it's also got a big tow behind groomer for the trails. there was also a dodge raider for sale up here not too long ago that was built for grooming. it didn't have mattracks though. someone took a pair of steel rims and notched them with a plasma cutter to run snowmobile racks and the custom built the entire set-up. it was pretty cool. the give sime much ground clearence even without a lift. if you watch the movies on youtube, you will notice that there are some type of springs or bars that keep the tracks from rotating into you fenders or flipping...

It was a few years ago when I spoke with them, so I don't recall the specifics. You are most likely correct. I think I spoke with them about just using a set on the rear and different ideas.

Regardless unless someone want sto buy me a set I think I am going to pass. They would work very well for running the river around here though.
