Maaco

Yes spraying base coat / clear coat, even the economy brands, is not what I'd call cheap.

Very good results can be had with single stage and hardener, I'd estimate under $200 for everything for an xj sized vehicle.

If your xj will be really wheeled, enamel paints can be very easy to repair and cheap! Less than $40 to paint the whole thing.

I'll keep you in mind when the time comes! That is extremely reasonable for the single stage and hardener.

I had my 1990 painted by Maaco - less than $1,000.00 for some body work and paint. Good job for the money in my opinion; they are doing my 1973 Mercury Comet this week.

Turned out fine. Some body work and complete re-paint - $1,340.00. Will not be doing car shows, but certainly appears decent.

Lots of good info in here. I will reiterate a couple things. Each Maaco is basically an independent shop. Treat it as such. Prep work is key. I did all my prep (minus pulling a dent in the door) and I am extremely happy with their paint job. If you are in the Charlotte area, hit up the Matthews shop.
