I have a 2000 xj and I was looking into getting this locker for the front diff. Is anyone running one of these and what is your input on it....good or bad.

thanks

I am running one in my high pinion dana 30 in my '89, and it works like a charm. For the price, you really can't beat one. When in 2WD, I don't even notice it is there except for the "ratcheting/clicking" noise from it locking and unlocking as I turn sharp corners. In 4WD, I can tell it is fully locked when power is being applied. It was the difference between night and day when I put one in. In my opinion, If you don't want to fork out the dough for a selectable locker, definitely go for the Aussie. As long as it is installed properly, you won't be disappointed.

Ditto, I have a 98 Auto, I have heard some with 5 speeds that notice it more if in slippery conditions (snow) when in 4wd on the street. But it should be OK as long as you coast thru turns either way.

I have a No-slip in the front which is essentially the same thing and I only notice it in 4wd. Great off road, pushes a little in the snow if you going slow. Ive gone "fast" in the snow(25-35 mph) and its not bad.

i have had it for 6 months and love the aussie. I started with it in a 5 speed. It really isnt that noticable. I mean you can hear the clicking but you get used to it. The wife doesnt like the clicking though. Its easy to install and works great. Worth the money.

Awesome!! thanks for the input guys, I will be ordering one here very soon..

thanks again!
Might as well do the u-joints, axle seals, & hub bearings while you have it apart.

No experience with Aussie in the front, however I just installed one in the rear a week ago friday, had it out on a moderate trail Sunday and it performed AWESOME! On road its very smooth as well, even smoother than the full Detroit I had in my last rig (though it was a standard and my XJ is an auto). You will NOT be dissapointed.

it is the shit have one in my 99 up front wheel every weekend drive to work every day going on 10 months now. Affordable and you can install it yourself in a few hours.

I have one up front. if I had to do it again, i'd lock the rear first. It's somewhat scary when it snows and that's the only drawback of the locker. The traction gained off road is great.

I have my front locked. Amazing. Quiet. Invisible.

Make sure that you get it in tolerance when you install it. Also order a extra pin and spring kit from Aussie. Cost is $18.50 shipped. That way if you break a pin you do not have downtime waiting on parts.

I love mine, made a huge difference in wheeling ability.

I still haven't gotten to the point where the noise when doing tight turns doesn't bother me, I just have to convince myself its normal.

There is an article in the Oct. 09 of JP that compares different lunchbox lockers. Might be worth a looksee.

I had one up front in my 99 and liked it till I moved to Idaho. It took a lot of getting used to in the snow. I did a few unexpected doughnuts till I learned how to drive it. The clicking around corners does get anoying.
