Looking to by a '00 XJ-what to look for?

not to be a jerk, but saving $150 (1.5%!!) on a nearly $10K purchase isn't saying much. i woulda said $9000 or piss off...10% savings over what they are asking. you know they made a profit on the previous owner's purchase and lowballed him on the trade-in. now they made another big profit on you. if you had a trade in, they lowballed you on that and will profit from the next dude. this is how is goes...gotta cover overhead

Maybe not, but if factor in interest it will add up. Like I previously stated, the market for XJs is high around here. That means the prices are higher and compared to the other XJs (99-01) that were advertised (internet or paper) were running in the 10-14k range regardless of milage (mine 45k, most others were nearly double), so therefore I feel like I good deal. Yes they made a profit and no I didn't trade.

BTW, they were asking $11,990. I got it for $9850 (pruchase price $9200) incl. taxes, title and license.

FWIW Yesterday I stopped and looked at a maroon 2000 sport Cry 8.25, no precats, no cruse, 49k for $7,200. It even had the crome wheels.

"The chrome wheels" are probably the $49 "wheelskins" that most used-car dealers slap on XJ Sports around here. If they FIT properly, I might think about them... but they look like cheap add-ons (which they are!).

No precats? Why?! I know that Ohio will never care, but such tampering on an OBD-II car is a FEDERAL offense, I think!

After looking at my paperwork, purchase price was actually $8935.50. Down from $11,990. I talked them down $3054.50. Not too bad in my opinion.

I would have sold you a nice '00 XJ Sport (4x4, blk, Classic 16" alloy rims, tint, CD) for quite a bit less than that. Mine has a few more miles (92k) but are mostly highway. I live in Memphis, but would drive to Nashville or Bowling Green to put it in good hands. Could have made a little trip well worth it.
