Looking for a catalytic converter

Where's a good cheap place to get a ca legal catalytic converter? Rockauto? Generic cat from autozone?

Ca Smog is crazy nazi and they will check to make sure it is the right cat for the vehicle. Your best bet is to buy a new one. I think I paid like $380 installed a few years ago...
Did it fail smog? Or is it rattling, broken etc?
Right after I bought mine, I smashed it up on the rubicon. Honeycomb on inside is completely destroyed and you can hear it rattling.. Still passed smog.

Where did you buy your new one? And I gutted mine. I crushed mine on the rubicon and destroyed the honeycomb too. I smogged it like that and passed with 3ppm to spare lol. So then I shook everything out of it and now I'm looking at my options for when smog rolls around again.

Jeep is a 96

Go down to your local muffler shop and get a cat. It shouldn't be too much. Are you able to install it your self?

Should be able to get a local muffler shop to install one for couple hundo or less.

Good call. An old buddy of mine works at a muffler shop owned by his dad that's not too far from my work. I'll hit him up and see what he can do for me.

Most do not realize that for several years, meow, all cat's are "high flow" . Some just advertise this.

I got mine from a muffler shop. It sucks to spend a few hundred on a cat. But its not too bad. My honda needed a cat right before I sold it.. $1400!! FML (but I didnt pay that, I have my ways)

I got mine from rockauto. I made sure it was the right one by comparing model numbers and making sure it was CA smog legal. I ended up getting the same exact one autozone sells for $100 cheaper.
