My order arrived from Trick Tools....

Dimple dies!

I gotta tell ya...

Im a big fan of the shear plane created there...

Im not a big fan of the random dimple die pattern...

Why add the upper sheetmetal in there? kinda makes that 'wing' fender stick out like a sore thumb...

and incase someone thinks that Im actually adding something to a thread - i really am not...

Give me a good patern and I will build it!
I didn't like the patern either,
but I don't agree about the fender sticking out like a sore thumb!
Why add the sheet metal? See shear plane above. :D

the lower sheetmetal is pleanty of a shear plane - look at Paul's rear shear planes...

make the pattern something cool... like a "JT" for Jump This or do something like WFW on one side and WWU on the other...

though, its not clear to me that you do wheel... :D :D

gonna be ready by sunday night? :viking:

Because buggies have sheet metal.....:roflmao: :laugh2: :moon:

I can't stop kidding you about that Rick.

I agree about putting some kind of cool desing or something....

I wish I had a drawing of your final idea on this thing... care to share?

This is what I have been working on in the mornings....
100_4102.jpg

Its as flush as I can make it. There will be some mods to the factory mounts to add some meat there.
The ends will be capped and tapped so I can add some sort of deflection device to protect the hanger bolts.
The clevis mounts are not flush mounted. They are doubled from the inside with some additional plate added.
I should have taken a picture of that tooo....

Hmmm....just realized there was an update posted in Ad Tech (you know, MY Tech section :D) and not here, where my friends congregate...
so......

Cut off the back this morning..
100_4118.jpg

Finished the bumper...
100_4120.jpg

and set the tank back in.
There is some more trimming and a bit of support work to do, then time for the shock mounts.

Rick

Hey Rick,

dont forget to add a side support to your nutstrip plate.

Also if you look in the center section of the rear unibody, there are two more bolts to attach your rear bumper to.

I was looking at replacing the factory nuts that the bumper bolts to. I could incorporate a side plate on the mounting strip then...
I'm also thinking that five bolts on the bottom plate is enough!

:D

Aw i wish i had tool's to "update" my baby!! You'r welds look good :laugh3:! Im so glad i went tough the 6 years of welding school... its like riding a bike!! so much fun! sry im rambling

Okay...a new policy.....

ALL JACKASSES WILL BE LEFT TO ROT ON THE TRAILS!

Hmmm....that should save the bumper!
