boxed the rear with 1/4.used my stock ubolt plate to cap the bottom off and water can drain out =) and hung a ruff stuff shackle hanger from it and a 6" shackle. I think the hanger needs to go about 2in. forward because the shackle angles too rigid sound right???

Don't take it personally, it has nothing to do with your abilities to fabricate various items both automotive and structural, I am sure if you have the certificatiions and such that you possess the skills. I'ts just that the majority of those posting on this particualr forum (I am not one for I don't do much other than engine, suspension and cosmetic mods) are rather far out there as far as the modifications and engineering done on their rigs. They are not elitists but they can be rather quirky :D.

If you read the forum descriptions, you might see that your thread might be much more welcome in the Modified Tech fourm. As such you would probably get much more help, advice, and kudos from that group that propably is more of your peer set.

By the way, my XJ is setting just about like yours, sans axles.

Maybe one of the moderators can move the thread if you would like.

ya right on that would be fine. even though this is a temporary lift and im building it for my full width build not for these 35s. i have a good pal at ruff stuff and am puttin a ruffstuff 9" rear and 60 or 9" front before summer.prably then this forum will be more appropriate, but im just lookin to help others in the same process as me and to get help additionaly, so the thread location is whatever.

and fyi, my truss aint very big, it hugs the top of the diff so its as small as it gets. and the def. of a truss is for support, or to make your object more rigid. not to mount links lol. my ruffstuff cover's ring is 1/2" A36 steel, so im fabing a piece on top of the diff.ring with holes to bolt my diff to my truss as well.cant really get much stronger than that. it clears my gas tank perfect ( even though im recessing the tank 3 or 4in. into cargo area come the full widths )

heres my tail lights. there made outa 3/16 with 4" l.e.d. plugins. i made an access hole on back of em so i could perm weld em in. its that same oval thats behine the stock lights. is anyone wants the dimensions to make these taillights let me know. its a pretty simple box to make and ive gotten alot of compliments on em already, and they aint even wired yet

as for my bumper, it will have another 2x2 below it, connected by some 2x2 ribs and a receiver in the middle. thats all 2x2x3/16 also ( thanks to the scrap bin at work =)

Dude, your truss my work... but it could be SOOO much stronger and smaller.

You could have got another foot and a half of coverage all the way out to the spring perches. Having a 'truss' that is 3" wider than the differential isn't going to do anything other than get in the way. That structure that you have over the differential LOOKS like what most build to mount LINKS on top of. Every 4-linked rear has one.

Just sayin? Why didn't you go all the way out to the spring perches and box the underside in?

PS: I do like your tail light boxes. Got a picture of them installed from the side?

well, the axle tubes were seperate from eachother on connected to the cast diff. this truss not only made them one, rather than seperate, but my notched 2x2 welded on 4 sides makes 16" of weld connecting them now, so with all do respecet saying it does nothing is 0% correct. im keepin that truss there, and maybe il mount 2 more pcs. of 2x2 like you said to reach out wider, that would loook bitchn too

interested to see where this goes...

and you know you can post more than one picture per post?
