At the depth you were at and for the amount of time, if that is a Renix jeep, you most likely got water in the computer. Do not turn on the key until you pull the computer, take the case off, and wash the computer board under clean running water. Then let it get good and dry. Placing it on the rack in your oven and putting the temp to the lowest setting for a couple of hours should suffice. I'm and electrical engineer, so don't think I am a crack pot about this.

ow- been there before! I cracked a 4.0 piston in water once. Hope you're prepared for stinky carpet and foggy windows, along with changing ALL your fluids.

Err well, I drove it home!? So, yea, I've started it. I am planning on an every fluid in the Jeep fluid change in the week up coming. As well as pulling the carpet and the box in the back. (tool drawer had 3 inches of water in it)

The extra work is going to put my new and improved tail light build-up on hold.

The power inverter doesn't seem to be impressed with being dunked. The radio didn't work for the ride home, and under the rear seat may be a bad place to be if you are an amp. The other thing is the FM modulator for the XM radio was under water, haven't tested it yet either.

My reverse lights were on, all by them selves. Other than that, there wasn't anything else that I noticed on the way home. (2 miles)

Oh yea I haven't asked the DeWalt cordless drill how it feels. It was on the floor board in the back.

The part I'm happiest about is that the laptop stayed dry! Although the GPS and topo map made no mention of there being that deep of a hole there.

Not to hijack but on the Renix's the fuse box is down by your feet as well. So what should you do about that getting wet, or what precautions can you take? Seems like you would splash it even if there was a couple inches of water on the floor.

I wouldn't worry about the fuse box. 12 volts systems work under water, basic items like power window motors and door locks still function (quess how I know) the electronic like computers and aftermarket keyless entry systems don't fair as well.

(I couldn't figure out why everything was locked when we got back to winch it out.)
