Let me introduce myself

Hey all, I've been lurking for quite some time but let me take a moment to show you who I am. My name is Brett and have been off roading for 10 years and some. When I was young my dad would take my brother and I out on his lap to let us drive off road. I got my first rig when I was 16 and have been wheeling ever since.

I have had a life changing accident in October of 2005 that left me in a wheelchair for life. I was in Deaumont dunes and was struck by a buggy at the top of a dune while riding with some friends on my fully built drag Honda Fourtrax 250R. I was air lifted to UMC Las Vegas and spent a month there before being transported to Loma Linda university for another year of physical therapy. I had a severed spine, 4 broken ribs, broken clavical and most serious a punctured lung that took a total of 5 minutes of my life at different times. Needless to say I am thankful to be alive.

Months after my accident my girlfriend of 5 years was still by my side and I decided it was time to get married. We had an amazing wedding in San Clamente. I could not be happier. When people ask me about stem cell research and if I will be able to walk again I tell them I would rather the technology be used to help a quadrapelegic get his arms back and I would trade that for my legs anyday.

When in age get a cage, so here is my XJ purchased bone stock a year and a half after my accident. My brother and I work on it almost every weekend and enjoy every moment of it. It took some time to get the hand controls down but I can wheel with the best of them now. I am more limiteed with the capabilities of my Jeep than I am with my driving abilities. It was a learning curve but we all go through this in every aspect of life.

Hope to see you guys on the trails soon.

Yeah I recall that. I have been around here for a while but when I meet people on the trail they wonder why I have not introduced myself here so I decided to. I really absorb all the great info here more than post. :compwork:

No way that's cool. Small world. My wife and I bought that small house when we got married and have been doing a ton of work to it. It was built in 1952 and was neglected its whole life. Stop by next time you see me out in the garage which is quite often. Thanks for the offer im sure I will need an extra hand at some point. Ill have a pool party this summer some time to have all the guys over for a meet and greet.
