Starting new thread for this one day run - continued from the 5th page of the Meet and Greet thread.

Current thought will be to meet at 9:00 am at the Turkey Bay check in booth. There is a large grass open area there to congregate. Passes can be purchased at the check in booth. Turkey Bay charges $15 for a 1-3 day pass.

Damn, wish I could go!

I don't know if I can get my new xj ready in time but can you tell me where Land between the lakes is?
Or would it make anyone mad if I brought my wj?

LBL is about 30 miles west of Clarksville, TN and is both in TN and KY. There are a ton of old logging roads (for passenger vehicles only) that make for fun light trail riding or the place we are meeting at is Turkey Bay Off Highway Vehicle Area, specially designated for all OHV vehicle (atv, buggy's, dirt bikes and modified passenger vehicles, etc).

I wouldn't recommend a stock WJ in the OHV area but you could always park and ride with one of us and feel it out.

Oh, its not stock wj. But I just got a 2dr xj I going to try a get ready. It has alot of unknowns about it, but Im having alot of fun wrenching on it.

This seems pretty cool. What all is required on your XJ to go? LBL's map doesnt really show how "tough" their trails are. LBL isn't super far from me, but I dont want to hold everyone up :)

You can do a lot stock. Tougher stuff generally has bypasses. We are not going to go super hard. None of us are "crawlers." Yeah. The map is crappy. The park has some graded roads with "runs" that shoot off them and some moderate trails. We wouldn't leave you behind or steer you into anything you aren't comfortable doing or that is beyond your rig's build. Come on along. Just make sure you have tow points.

Im going to talk with the Mrs. and see whats on the agenda for that weekend. If nothing's planned, I'm going to try to make it since I finally got my TREs replaced (one of the many reasons I wasn't able to go to Sparta). I ordered my winch bumper the other day, but there's a 3 week lead time on it, so it wont be here by then....

Currently, Im taking a break from working on her and I'd like to take her out for a spin with some new buddies. :)

Back to the top:

Looks like 3 for sures right now:

1. Kris
2. Dirk
3. Tim

Anyone else? Please post up so that we know who to, and how many to, wait for at the park gate.

Wish I did not have to work, hope everyone has fun.
Maybe I can make the next one

I'm still in, been looking forward to this trip all week. Plan to load the jeep on the trailer tomorrow evening. I should be there by 9 with my son. Look for the old red jeep. Tim.

We may need to get permits at Golden Pond VC. It opens at 9. Not sure if the Turkey Bay gate house will be open. Couldn't get anyone on the phone to confirm. Just a heads up. Trails are open though. I confirmed that.

It was a fun run today. We were the first group out there and didn't see anyone for about the first 2 hours. By the early afternoon we ran across a number of quads and Razers and a few dirt bikes....and one large group of XJs and MJs.

The trails were pretty good considering the rain and sleet over the last couple days. A few were pretty mushy, but mostly all passable. I got stuck in the mud and had to get winched out. We had one "sunk Jeep" and had to pull the spark plugs and blow out all the water. The Rock Garden has been enlarged almost to the point of rediculousness. We all crawled it side to side, not end to end. I did bust a mirror on a tree coming off the rock garden.

Great time out. Hopefully KP will put up some shots also. Here are a few of mine.

The group on the lakeshore. Not sure if that is Kentucky Lake or Lake Barkley.
