L.A.p.d.

Contrary to popular opinion there are no win situations. Wife had her aunt and uncle killed by a police car in a high speed chase, left 2 kids, 5 and 7 behind. What pisses me off is when the govt denies any responsiblity, moral or financial. All for a guy who rolled thru a stop sign and panic of being pulled over for an expired drivers license. They had his plate and just should have got him later after he panicked..some people just don't know how to handle getting caught.

I remember my last serious confrontation with LA Sheriffs department, they said I attacked five of them, striking them repeatedly around the hands and fists, with my face. The newspapers said, It was because I was protesting, two womens right to sun bath topless on a private beach. Vaugely remember the topless sunbathers, barley noticed, wasn´t impressed. Another few minutes , me and my dog would have been long gone. I was just passing through.
Is it possible, that often, it´s just all so unnecessary.

I still vote in California.
Planet "I gotta get out of this place", this place is nuts. Old music.
Somtimes distance adds perspective, sometimes it`s just farther away.
The US is the biggest most powerfull nation on Earth, but hey guys your still outnumbered 40-50 to one. And sometimes, no matter how you read the fine print on the directions, all the answers, may not be in the box.
Here the likelyhood of the Police firing 50-60 rounds at most anything, for whatever reason, are probably less likely than being struck by lightening. It happens, but so rare as not to be a factor. In L.A. it´s seems to be pretty darned common, along with brutal Police and a policy of confrontation. It was that way thirty years ago and from many accounts, still the same, things don´t seem to have improved much. Typical military tactics, often involve, communications, shock, mobility and firepower, really pretty simple, but you can be flexible and change the order some, add something to the mix or maybe devise new tactics.
But the Germans sure enough have there blind spots. A wall to high to climb with a metal gate, between you and the front door. But an open window at the front of the house right next to the wall and the gate. In there minds, windows are for air and gates are to keep out burglers.

Had a guy ask for a security assesment for a pump house. I gave him my recommendations, he after many E-mails and consultations, had his fence built. Asked me a while later, how I liked his fence, with obvious pride, fifteen feet tall, 3/16 inch plastic coated, thick wire. Barbed wire on top. I shouldn´t have done it, but walked over and lifted the bottom, half way between two posts. He also thought I was a space cadet, now he just hates me.

I´ve been saying for close to thirty years, the LAPD is broken and needs fixing. The L.A. County Sherriffs department is worse. Like somebody has been puting steroids in the doughnuts or something.
The last time I checked, there were 3 actionable complaints a day, for the Sheriffs Department and the Sheriffs Department, actually isn´t that large. The number of actionable complaints is probably a very minor fraction of the actual incidences.
You can rationalize what they do, but seriously, people are people and the people in LA, can´t be that much worse or that different from other people, that they require having to put up with the LAPD and Sherriffs Dept. tactics.
I´ve been pulled over and harrased, more times in a month in LA, than in thirty years here. In fact I´ve never been pulled over here. Have been stopped at a few drunk checks, have had a few radar tickets. Have had the police over twice, both times pretty minor stuff, they just scowled at me a bit and left. Traveled coast to coast in the states numerous times by road. Rarley ever, to never, had any problems, except in So. Cal and L.A. in particular. I just think so much of the crap, is just so unecessary.
Some policeman here, firing 50 rounds into a car, because the driver failed to stop, is about as likely as an asteroid strike. The Police firing 60 rounds into a house, is probably less likely, with an infant inside, close to zero. The Police, beating the heck out of anybody trying to run away, is highly unlikely. They figure if they are fleeing, at least they aren´t attacking and the reward for fleeing is actually, less likelyhood of a beating or being shot. If you get stupid with a German cop, he´ll sure enough put some knots on your head, but they sure don´t go looking for it. Police here in Germany that screw the pooch, find themselves civilians jiffy quick. If a policeman here, beat up a carload of illegal aliens, because he was having a bad day. He´d be in court the next day facing charges, shortly a civilian and in serious chit.
I´m sure not saying everything German is better, but most ways, there law inforcement policies, just seem to work better. German Police, work hard, at not teeing of the population, a whole lot less chance of teeing off somebody enough to want to shot at them. The only real improvement, I can think of, is if there were a few more police, they are kind of understaffed.
Don´t think you´d find many people in L.A. wishing for more cops?
But when the fit hits the shan, the German police, seem to handle it OK.
Please stay in Germany and out of California if it's so bad.

Plan on it, I´ll probably avoid Utah also, thanx for the heads up. Though if you ever get the urge, come on over to Germany, a couple of young Elders (from Utah) live around the corner, I guess you guys probably went to different schools at the same time. Seem like nice kids, have them over occasionally, favor fruit juice.
Don´t you worry none about your mind slamming shut and causing a concussion, because I doubt it´s ever been open.

Do you always just read/watch what the media has to say and believe their side?

Heck no, My father was a Sheriff, my Mother LAPD, grew up with a bunch of Police. Played with there kids. Had some experiences, heard some stories, from the source, not the media. The media screws it up no end, most ways, either far left or far right. Maybe it´s time for a moderate media.
Two of my best friends growing up, are in the LAPD. To tell you the truth, I always felt, they didin´t much like the direction it was going either.
My adopt a soldier family, was Cincinatti PD, good bunch of people, don´t try to paint me with that brush. I´m not a cop hater.
All I really said, was thirty years of progress, wasn´t, seems like the same old stuff, in the same old way.
