Kudos to Pres. Bush

Just as when Reagan visited Berlin. It was a major pain, and a big inconvinience. However, it did good. Granted, we where not being shot at, and were able to hit McDonalds the next day.

Yes, I know he's their President but it's not his responsibilty to care for them. And I don't think he didn't for political mileage.
 
I thought it was great. Those who were whining that he hasn't visited the troops are now whining that he did, there's no pleasing some people. All the soldiers I heard on the radio were very pumped up and happy he showed, it made their day. This was the regular news media reporting, not a GOP PR release, if the mood was sour they would have jumped on the chance to report it. I was lukewarm and actually somewhat indifferent about "W" early on and am not easily impressed by polititians, but the guy has grown on me. This President seemss to be the genuine article. TC
 
Why don't you ask a vet from WW2, Vietnam, Korea or another war what kind of fond memories they had when they were out of country? Bet ya they remember the USO tours and such. Why? Because those tours helped take their mind of their buddies dying, and all of the hardships they endure for us. Whether President Bush went there for the troops, or to politic, he did a good thing. Our brothers and sisters in arms will not forget this.

And to whomever made the 'serving the homeless' comment. It is good that you can be that idealistic, but get real, they arent the ones getting shot at in a foreign country.

Get over it!

Homeless can get out of their situation with the desire and help of many organizations in our country. The guys that are defending FREEDOM can not get out of their situation. They are their under orders! IMHO his visit was a great thing and good for the troops. But as usual the ney sayers always try to find some nitpicky BS to make things and people misreable. As for the media. I think if the media wanted to slur this away from Bush, and we all know they love to hamer him, they would have shown people not so happy to have him arround. I say Kudo's to you Mr. President and keep up the good work!

Why would it be better for the president to serve dinner to the homeless then to go into a dangerous area to show his, and our support for our thousands of troops in harms way?
There are tons of orgs supporting the homeless, how many are supporting our troops in a meaningful way?
What have you done to support the homeless or our troops (don't say paying taxes)?

Only 5% of the homeless people have mental problems, 10% that are children, what about the rest? They're not there because our govt put them there....... My father owns a liquor store in Compton, California. We have lots of homeless folks that my dad is always chasing away, yeah at first I felt sorry for them but when you see them drinking their life away, or smoking crack, shooting heroin, slangin' sex for a hit, or selling foodstamps at half the value just to get some change to buy some crappy as beer you get tired of it. These folks put themselves on the streets!! Our Government sent troops to Iraq, wether WE liked it or not, it is one hell of a gesture, wether PR or not!!!

No he doesn't! People need to learn to take responsibility for their own misfortune. It's not the Presidents responsibilty to feed, clothe and shelter the citizens. It's the citizens responsibility. This isn't a socialist society. Allthough some would like it to be.
