Kendall motor oil??

if napa house oil, is downgraded valvoline, that makes me really not want to pour it in my rig.

Still dont understand how you could hate Castrol GTX....

I don't hate it. They just use a bunch of shit, that hasn't been in oils from the past. And those 'SYNTEC' tourture tests on the commercial is a joke. The one on conventional blows a water pump and coolant comes out the bottom?LOL what oil is even in it, GTX?

Haha

i dont like their Syntec....but GTX I thought was good.

what do you mean they use a bunch of shit that hasnt been in oils from the past? additives?

From the standpoint of someone who devotes to much time to oil (me), I wouldn't run it because it contains too much sodium in its 'add pack' It would scew up my results unless I had a virgin sample of the same batch. I think Exxon Superflo would give you better results if you went with the low cost dino.

As long as the add pack in any oil is healthy, more for our cams, you can run it 3k no problem. After that, the anatomy of the oil is tested. Synthetics-stading up to a lot more abuse.

Cost isnt a factor for me - I just always thought Castrol GTX was a quality oil! But I think when I get back, I'm gonna have to switch...AMSOIL, Kendall, or something else...not sure what else, but maybe one of those diesel oils...Rotella or something..whats the other one I keep hearing about...Delvac...?

We've used kendall at my shop for the last 15 years, never had any problems. Tests show it to be along the same lines a castrol, except it's dark green out of the bottle.

I have used Kendall back through the early 80s and on but its changed names.
Kendall GT1 "was" Green back when that brand name was owned by Witco Chemical Co. and made at the in Bradford, PA Refinery. But it was sold to Conoco Phillips in 1997, therefore it’s no longer the same oil and is not green. Kendall brand name is just that a brand name since 1997 it is made by Phillips. Kendall is no longer Green

Now if you want to buy the stuff that “was” called Kendall prior to 1997 and made at the same Refinery located in Bradford, PA, and is still Green in color; here is information that will help you out. And by the way it is now called PENN-GRADE 1.
As RichP pointed out it was the top brand in racing back in the 80-90s and is a very good top line oil even today but the name has changed if you want to buy the real "kendall" of years past here is a contact number were I buy it from as its not stocked local to me. Also its made in the USA

We can help you out with all Brad Penn, Penn Grade 1 Racing products. Please give us a call at 314-878-0501 for pricing and other detailed information.

SJ, SL and SM are the current API classes SJ will work in any XJ MJ on the road today, newer oils offer less protection for the older engine due to less ZDDP as I understand

Classification:
SJ "Starting 1997 "
SL "Starting 2001"
SM "Starting 2004"
