I've heard much talk and much discussion on the subject of Boring AND Stroking the 4.0L. Does boring the motor actually give any true increase in the displacement over just stroking it? As far as liters go, what's the most you could just stroke the 4.0 to? Would it just be a simple rebuild at that point with a different crank and rods? What do you all that have these motors think? The reason I ask, is that I'm trying to stay away from boring the motor. I've always just stroked other motors with excellent results and have always left boring the cylinders to blocks that had cylinder wall damage. So is boring the 4.0L a neccessary step in making a stronger motor?
