Well, I took the pics last week when we had a decent weather day, waiting on my extension to get here...(which arrived the next day and is sitting in my kitchen) and the weather has been too bad to get it installed. Freezing rain now....ugh.
anyway, here's a few pics of the rack with my tire mounted using the Yakima tire carrier.
not much room for much of anything other than the tire...but that is why I got it. the extension will be a nice addon!
note the factory 2001 crossbars on the ends and the "96" crossbars in the middle.
view from the front. I have a plastics shop up the street, I'm gonna see if I can get a new air dam made after I get the extension in. One that will extend down to the roof and a couple inches above the rack. You can see the cable lock hanging below the rack.
The Yakima tire carrier fit perfect, no mods needed. You can't really tell from the pic, but the crossbar here is in contact with bottom of the yakima plate . the cable lock goes through two spokes in the tire, through the rack, and around one crossbar.
the view from above. Yes, I know the yakima come with provisions for adding a standard padlock, but I preferred using the cable lock, a little more stout for protection from theft.
From the rear, there is about an inch between back of tire and back of rack...so when I do go to 31" tires (these are 30's) there should be no need to change anything.
another view from the other side.
I'll post comparison pics after getting the extension in. Hopefully this next week.
