Junk Yard Parts Finds/Requests

white/wood xj waggy with a complete 4 headlight header and i think a pretty straight/complete/clean body in the oceanside ecology. 50% off tomorrow.

There are a bunch of good renix parts on that waggy. it was mine. new/reman fuel injectors, new fuel pump, TPS, EGR valve, all sorts of good parts. trans and transfer case was good. shifts good. back fee's made me have to get rid of it.

bummer. usually you can work with them and get it reduced significantly. should have posted it here, someone would have bought it for what you sold it to the jy for.

maybe, but they would have had to also pay the back fee's right away. new CA dmv rules only give you a short time to have a vehicle behind in fee's and will go after your income. yes folks they now contact your employers and garnish wages. welcome to CA. i didn't want to chance the buyer not paying the fee's and have the dmv come back to me for them.

jeep was not running but was insured and registered. i removed the insurance since i was not driving it. a few months later DMV notifies me that registration is revoked because of lack of insurance. so now i have to re-insure it, re-pay registration, and get a smog cert. the jeep does not run. tried to reason with the DMV with no luck. "Pay your dues" was about all i heard. by then registration went passed the due date and was up for what would have been the original due date if they would not have revoked the registration. so now i have to pay the back fee, late fee, current fee, insurance, and still get a smog cert. the jeep does not run.
so how much would you have paid for a stock 89 waggy that does not run, 245k on the meter, with over $500 in back fee's, worn tires, cracked windshield, blah blah blah? yea, not an easy sell.

so what you are saying is that you would have payed more than $1000 for a completely stock non running 89 jeep with bald tires, cracked windshield, rust around the lower windshield area, broken passenger front door glass, needed a new fuel pump, needed a new cat, no stereo, sagging rear leafs, and i can list more? could i have tried to sell it? sure, but by the time all the tire kickers came around i would have gotten another letter in the mail saying they are going to garnish wages from my wifes employer. the JY gave me $350. the buyer would have had to pay all the back fee's and fines and current registration right away even if they just wanted to no-op it. (all fee's must be paid current to non-op)
this one was a money pit and i was not going to screw a naxja member over to try and make a few dollars more. there are better jeeps out there for sale for the same amount of investment than this would have been. what sort of price do you think this jeep should have been listed for as is?
when i posted my intentions on other threads, all i got was "i will come and swap out the good D30 front end for my bad broken one". and that profits me how again?

the great state of ca was also 100% unwilling to work with me on a similar situation.....ended up doing the same thing.
at least the woody will live on in other xj's as an organ donor. :)
i grabbed several things off of it, so thank you for that!
someone got to the grille assembly before me though...

Hellbent. glad you found some useful items. i had lunch today at Pedro's Taco's right on the corner there and thought about going in to visit it one last time. but i think i would have been too bummed out. the one thing i do regret was not swapping out the front clip, but the only other complete clip i had was a 10 panel (vertical) from an 87 which i have come to like a little more than the horizontal wagoneer. and those 10 panel grills are hard to find too. i did however swap out the all red tail lights for some red/amber ones before it left.

xj rear dana 44 in chula vista Pick your part. one wheel someone did some significant damage to trying to get off. might have to take the wheel with it. the axle drum to drum is $250ish

Pick A Part is 99 for an axle drum to drum. Have their price sheet with you when you go to the window.

Looking for a 2wd 98-01 XJ AW4 auto if any one hears of one. I've seen the CL one as a core but want a runner to sell the 99 2wd I have. I thought about a 4wd AW4 because I have a T-case & front 30 laying around so that will work also!

2stix is right on the money with the garnish deal. I had my Suzuki 500 Quadzilla strong arm registered. They came after me for a lousy $20.00 plus late! I do not know how it can be legal. At some point some one with deep pockets will sue and win! Hopefully soon! Brown needs to go back to being a monk!
OH and the 500 is for sale as well as 2 wave runners on a tandem trailer or I'll trade for a rebuilt trans or in next to rebuilt condition!
I consider the sale pitch on topic because I would trade one or the other for what I'm looking for!

How was the 44, was it clean?

Mark where do you get the price sheet.

it was in good shape. i think it even had a chrome diff cover. only issue was the wheel that may or may not come off at the yard. the other wheel was off already.

bring hammer and chisel. avoid paying for said shit wheel.

If anyone is going to the JY soon, I am looking for the speedo gear and speedo gear housing off of an NP207. Don't have preference on gear etc. converting to a electric speedo, but need the housing and gear to drive the pulse generator.

Thanks!
