...nuff said. I'm not what you would call a political person, but I did find it ridiculous and a slap in the face to our troops regardless of how it was supposed to be taken. Any thoughts...?

wanna fill me in with an unbiased report

I dunno exactly what he said but I do feel that you do not posess the proper frame of mind or experiences to send soldiers to die unless you've worn the uniform.

As unbiased as I can be, he was giving a speech at a college and made the comment that if you study hard and do you're homework you'll be ok, if you don't, you'll end up in Iraq. The video/audio is on Foxnews. You'd have to listen/watch the video to get the full context of it. Just a shatty comment. I'll is if I can find a link.

(There's a reason I didn't quote that)

You're right, and no; it wouldn't make me sleep any better. This guy is supposed to be a presidential canidate. I just think it's sad that he has this total disregard for our troops, whatever the context may have been. If he feels that way, it's cool. I however thought it was a shatty comment, but won't lose any sleep over it.

agreed... As a former serviceman I'd rather know what his feelings are and sticking to them that flip-flopping on issues.

course everything any politician says between now and elections day is BS anyway.

gotta look at their voting record instead.

its amazing what he said but i think it reflects the view of a lot of people who don't speak. however, i do not believe the troops consist of people who are uneducated. there are people there who were called from places of work where they held high positions as well. i can't see how Kerry calling our young folks who are doing their job as instructed can be uneducated.

Kerry probably does not know anyone who has family doing their military job in iraq.

that was a bad move on his part. like mama used to say, " if you cant say anything nice, sometimes its best not to say anything."

mama may have been right this time Mr Kerry.

I guess I'm the only one that finds that funny, without taking it seriously. Look back at vietnam, which might be his frame of reference, that was the truth then. However as you all know its just not true, I know plenty of educated in the service as well as many dumbfawks that didnt have much more of a choice.

UPDATE:

Now he's calling it a (ahem) "Botched Joke."

Yea, right!

His handlers should have told him to apologize for what he said.
Wether he meant it or not. But no he says that he will not apologize for his criticize of Bush's handling of the war.
:conceited
:flame: Remember what he said and did about our solders at the end of Vietnam.:flame:

Well not to put anyone down, but here is my experience. I certainly can't speak for every service member, or how the troops are today. I served from 85 to 91 and he's right. The general population of our troops are not the cream of the crop of the uppwardly mobile to say the least. That includes me. It is made up of a lot of people that didn't have many choices. That does not mean that our troops are not hard working, intelligent, patriotic, loyal, moral, decent people. I learned a good trade, met a lot of skilled, intelligent, people that I would have been willing to sacrifice my life for cause they would have done the same. However, compared to the general population I also met alot of unskilled, unmotivated folks with now where else to go. Frankly, I was shocked by that. I thought it was going to be the best of the best and all that Marine Corps commercial stuff. I'm not saying I'm right or wrong, I'm just telling you my experience. I don't regret serving and have always been pro millitary, but if my family would have had the money to send me to school, I would have gone. And not that I like Kerry, but don't forget he has actually been shot at. Our current Comander in Chief avoided that cause his family had the means to do so. Just an observation

This is the way I look at it. It doesn't matter whether he meant it the way it sounded or if he meant it as a "botched joke"

Either way he should have stood up like a man and apologized to the troops for the statement. If he would have done that none of this would be an issue now.

Never in my life have I seen a Horses ass who looks like such an horses ass.

Not sure why everyone is so surprised......he handled this no differently than everything else he's taken a stand on......only to backslide later when it was no longer popular. The guy is a flag, apparently the folks who've re-elected him think he's doing a great job.

Not surprised at all...

Just saying people should stand by their comments and actions...

I am soooooooooo disillusioned with all politicians...

I think they're all bred in a lab somewhere by the Illuminati.
