Son's Girlfriend has an 09 2 door JK with a TeraFlex lift, called last night and the rear driveshaft is on it's way out. Quick search shows most buying a new u-joint driveline from TW or similar.

Anyone ever rebuilt these CV's? Found a kit on ebay but i'm unfamiliar with the process. Any special tools needed?

Preference is to rebuild the driveline vs dropping the money on a new shaft, plan is to trade the JK in on a new Grand in the near future.

find a drive line shop and have them do it for you. We have a place that all they do it rebuild half shafts for IFS and set us up in about 5 mins and it was amazing to watch.

if you can change a ujoint you can swap a JK Cv out ... they are a 'Cartridge' style assembly so no need to pry balls out and pop back in. just unbolt shaft end, undo C Clip and disassemble. If you look at the kit you can practicly see how it goes together.

Son had the rebuild kit shipped to me, and dropped off the driveshaft last night. Piece of cake.. thanks for the input.

Other end needs a boot at axle.. apparently they don't sell them individually.

I ended up ditching the OEM rear driveshaft, the other CV was clicking also. Did the Tom Woods 1310 shaft conversion which includes the yoke on transfer and flange at pinion.

The OEM front driveshaft also has a notchy CV on it, i'll be swapping that one CV we bought to it, oddly enough the JK has 1 ujoint.. at front pinion.

So naturally I had to install new rear adj upper CA's to set the pinion angle.
