Well should have added this to the regrets page, buying a 2wd.

I've thought for quite a while about selling the 2wd and buying a new one in 4wd but I am to attached to this Jeep and can't ever get rid of it so 4wd conversion seemed like the best bet.

Think I found all the parts and got them paid for today. Hopefully in a few weeks this will be going underway.

Anyone have a transmission jack I can borrow for a few days?

Here we go!

the easiest way to do this is to do a direct swap from a 4wd jeep.

if you can find a slightly wrecked or non running jeep you would be miles ahead.

may even be cheaper.

my brother accidentally bought a 2wd 96.

he ended up selling it to my OLDER brother who had an 87 at the time.

we parked em side by side swapped tranny/transfercase, front axle and any and all brackets we needed.

you'll be amazed at what little nickel and dime parts you dont even know you need.

and when he was done he sold the 87 for 500 bucks.

Ok heres where I'm at:

Ordered:

Lift
Shocks
Wheels
Transmission
Transfer Case
SYE
Driveshafts
Axle
Transfer Case
Shifter
Bezel

Think I'm looking pretty good

Just haven't ordered it yet. Kit comes with control arms and I need to order the track bar, as well as front lines.

Ok finally the guy that has the parts is going to stop dicking around and get them to me this week.

Should have some pictures this weekend!

you can go up to 4" with out an adjustable trackbar.. your stance will be to the side a bit but i did it for 1 year with out any unusual tire wear..
and you can use your stock control arms too.
been there done that.
When you put your lift ... follow the instructions.. and dont deviate.. lol
like superdave did on his jeep running the control arms reversed...

Yah no worries about the lift, won't be the first one. Just waiting on the trans, case, and axle because theres no point in throwing on the lift when I have to pull the front axle anyways.

If you want beef in an adjustable trackbar then call Andy @ Ironman.

Hope you have better luck with your Iron Rock than I have. Didn't I already go through this with you? lol.

Give me some warning on when you want to start working on it. Work schedule so far has been the exact opposite of what I was told/promised...and if it doesn't change, i'll be making it change.
