so it's been a little slow, and I was looking through some Rubicon pictures over on PBB, and realized I have never seen pictures of an XJ or MJ making it through "the box" or Little Sluice, and I mean no winch, no strap.

has it been done? CRASH? Any of the SoCal boys?

pictures are a MUST!

I wonder if I could be talked into giving it a shot this summer :laugh3:

Sure, quite a few times.....without winch or strap. I did have a strap on my roof once to help keep me from going over. I don't have any pics.

I don't know about everyone else but I've been really busy, plus getting ready for BOTW3.
I think the box is guaranteed body damage for an XJ and personally I've never seen an XJ go through it. I probably won't ever try it, at least while I'm on my little 33s.
Soup Bowl on the other hand is pretty fun and not too difficult if you know the line...

It'll be fun to see Hinkley in the box this year, I'm sure he'll be game with his XJ2MJ. :D

I have made it twice with no strap. This was about 4 years ago, before it got really nasty in the middle section.

Now, you are almost guaranteed to take out a window or door on the drivers side, unless you really go high and to the right.

I'll be in it this summer, as will many others, on the NAXJA Rubicon trip!!!

that's pretty cool guys, but come on, no pictures!?!?

I bet Jes has a couple of me IN the box, the last time I was in it.

I got denied in the middle section when my power steernig got so bad I couldn't even move the wheel.

CRASH

Look, it's Hinkleberry!

CRASH

i have pic's of my rig running it..... '94-'95 with 32's.

if you don't care about your rig and have spare parts or a ride home it's passable. i think you'd need 37's or bigger just to get over the first obstacle.

I was in it a couple of years ago, with 31s :) Made it through the first part and got too tippy and backed off the rest. However looking at it this summer it seemed much worse than I remember it being when I was rolling on my 31s :)

Soup bowl, can whatever you want to call it was fun, particularily when running up it while the buggy on 38s below is trying to fix his busted rear u-joint from when he tried it :)

That is gonna be fun with a longbed!:D

Phil, the way I see it, with an MJ you just worry (but only a little) about getting the cab past any rocks and then let the bed drag all you want. once the bed gets trashed, you have a perfect excuse for a tube-bed. In an XJ, you're worried about the uni-body and glass all the way back. Yet another reason MJs are just so much cooler :D

and guys, give me a break, little sluice is nothing
