Alright, so, i finally bought into the hype of the ipods. Picked up a 4 gig. Thing works pretty sweet. Holds a ton of music. Battery could last a little longer, but, it is rechargable. Anyway, i like the ipod. Anybody else got one? I am looking now to pick up an FM transmitter for it. Anybody got one of those yet? My boss just got the iTrip. He loves it. I had one for a week that also charged the ipod. That went back the next day. Static was horrible! I live in Orlando, so, it's def a metro area. Anyone else use any of these? I'd love some insight before I go and shell out $70 again.

Thanks in advance guys

I have the mini and the iTrip and they work fine in the DC metro area. I would buy again. The battery life on mine sucks too but mine is older and the newer are supposed to last a while.

You guys need some butane fired micro-turbines to power your personal electronic gizmos.

do you ever give helpful advice?

my friend has the transmitter and while it is not near as clean as a cd, it is very much tolerable. i would find a way to wire it straight in

Don't they have some kind of recall and replacment for those short battery life issues, just happened to hear about it on the news last week.

I think so but only for the newer iPods I believe. I really should check but I am lazy.

Anyone care to explain the iPod thing to me?

I could google it but I'd rather someone just tell me so I don't have to read the whole Apple sales pitch.

Do you buy the pod and then subscribe to a downloading service (iTunes?)? Does it use mp3 format? How much are the songs or is there a unlimited download plan? Are they really worth it?

I'm pretty fond of my Sirius satellite radio especially when I add the portable unit soon.

Yes, bitch, I do. I also offer up humor and ideas from outside the box.

It holds a lot of music. You can download a song for $.99 or an album for usually $9.99 but no subscription fees. They are apple format but there is software to rip to mp3 and vice versa. Yes they are worth it. I would also like the portable XM unit but I wished in one hand and crapped in the other. You know which one I got first?

How come your ass isn't on the road yet ?

i've got a 40gig Creative player (Ipod wannabe), I love it. I have a Belkin FM transmitter that works okay, it can be changed to any station, so first I find a station with nothing on it, or ideally nothing near it either. I also have a head-unit with an auxillary input on the front, that is the way to go, crisp sound and no bass loss. Aiwa makes a head-unit with the front input for about $100.

Legally?

Alright I guess I'll get one.

Anyone recommend a retailer?

Yes it is legal because you own the song. Once you buy it you can do whatever with it.

I think they are the same price everywhere you go...

Dell Pocket DJ is what I have and I'm very happy with it. Its pretty much the same as the mini iPod except iPods dont except .WMA format music. A pocket DJ is 5 GB and the mini iPod has I believe 4 and 6 GB options. Mini ipods range from 160-250 dollars and a pocket DJ is currently 199. All of my music is in WMA format so that made the choice a no brainer.
