Introducing the Jeegle... (lotsa pics, dialup beware...)

I fess up... I had a Concord beater my dad gave me when I was 18...tops of the fenders rusted out too!

well...

it's drivable, and on 33's (still all stock otherwise)

not bad flex for a Jeegle on 33's :D

whatever tranny/TC they used in them things sucks ass, and it's gotta go!

I assume you means Grand Wagoneer, not Mercedes Gelandewagen?
Of course......dual 44s,TF727, and a NP229. =)

As for the present Eagle....great job. It looks real good on 33s. Otherwise stock...does that mean you're still IFS?? After owning many AMCs and rebuilding their poorly designed front end......I'd say in a few months you'll need at least ball joins and tierod ends. =)

The tranny should be a Chrysler 9xx -- nothing seriously wrong there. But you beat me to it -- I was going to comment that the single-range transfer case should be next on the list.

needless to say, the MJ is gonna be on jackstands soon after I get back from retrieving what's left of my stuff in RI.

It was never intended to be a Jeep, or to do serious off-roading. It was intended to be an AWD passenger car, and at that it was very successful. It has a 258 cubic inch I-6 (4.2L), the same engine that was used in the Wrangler until 1991, but the transfer case doesn't have a low range and the front axle is IFS.

But with some judicious infusion of XJ and other Jeep components, it could be a unique and very capable machine.

Hey Eagle,
Can we say Pacifica? The new Crylo AWD wagon! It's my belief they stole it from this bad boy!

heh.. I almost bought an eagle SX4 with the intention to add a 2-range Tcase and adequately large tires.

Good to see that what I imagined would've worked - very cool car :)

(and subaru says they invented the all terrain wagon ... ? )

Yeah, a friend of mine has both an Eagle SX/4 and a Concord (2WD) hatchback sitting in his driveway. If I had a job and a place to work I would definitely have bought one of them to make into an SXJ/4

yeah...th tf9... usually craps out. first sign is a delay going into reverse. the pumps in those trannies sucks. and they have crappy gearing and shift points. if youmanually shift it you can get a little power out of it. eventually, you will lose reverse.

the goods news is that the tf727 is only about 1.5 inches longer and is a direct bolt in. =)

only problem with the aw4 is that it has a 23spline output I think and the older tf9xxs had a 21 spine output. kinda of a pain versus and older (and tougher) 727 that bolts in.
