Can anyone e-mail me a wiring diagram for the instrument cluster illumination
lights for my project 88 MJ . None of mine work, nor does the clock...... my dash checks good as does the headlight switch according to the Haynes manual simplified schematic, but none of the lights work....

I have a 98 xj with no cluster lighting, but all others work. All fuses looked ok. whats the deal.

Did you check the dimmer function on your headlight switch?

The switch includes a built-in rheostat, which operates by rotating the knob of the light switch. As the switch gets old, it's possible (even probable) that the rheostat coil will develop dead spots. The headlights will work fine, but the dash lights won't work. The switch in my '88 XJ is in that state now. I can run the dash lights dimmed (but at my age they're hard to see like that) or with the dimmer turned almost to the point of switching the dome light on -- but if the knob is rotated just a couple of degrees off that "bitter end" position, I have a dark guage cluster.
