Installed a Washer Fluid heater:

Ya Amazon, it was this one:

Hasn't been frosty enough to really see how it works, but it looks like a quality unit. Company was based in MI, I'm guessing they are the OEM supplier for the new vehicles that have this heater, and they sell some for the aftermarket installers like us.

Well this one here looks nearly the same as mine, and its quite a bit cheaper:

Not sure about you, but this comment seems a little concerning:

"Found out the circuit boards in these systems overheat and catch fire. Dealers were eliminating them as per a June 2010 recall. I would not recommend installing this part."

:wow:

Ya I hear ya, I looked into it and apparently the original supplier for GM went out of business so GM had to recall these since they couldn't get replacements. The company making them now makes the new one in the same footprint as the GM unit so that it can be used as a drop in replacement for the GM unit.

They seems to offer some different configurations of the same unit as well, probably to other OEMs now.

I'm not sure if that cheap one I linked to is really made by Alphatherm or if its old stock, but that one is a little different since it has another connector on it for some sort of control. This one is internally regulated.

That being said the amazon reviews of the one I bought are overall positive with a few detractors for ones that failed shortly after install.
