I'm a newbie to your site, but have tried my best to adhere to your rules of the "search" option and did not find the answers I was looking for, so here is my question:
1.) I have a 93XJ w/ 300,000 miles on the original I6 and auto tranny and just started finding small metal fragments on the dipstick. Granted this might be from the rusty looking dipstick holder, but the motor has seen better days. I have found some replacement I6's from $350-400. The ones with the fewer miles are from 97 on up models. My question is this, will I have to switch anything to put the motor from a 97 or new XJ into my older 93 XJ? My concerns were the computer or things of that nature. The motors come complete w/ the intake and exhaust manifolds, pulleys belts etc....
I can handle the install no problem, I just did not want to get the newer motor and find out the hard way that something was not going to work. I am new to this site but not Jeeps...been wrenching on these things for 15 years or better, but never know what is around the next corner!! Great site guys (and gals!), and thanks in advance for any and all help.
