Initiative 100. What do you think?

DENVER (AP) — Denver voters passed a ballot measure that would give police the authority to seize cars driven by illegal immigrants.

Initiative 100 requires police to impound vehicles of unlicensed drivers, an authority they already have. It also adds language to the city code that targets illegal immigrants.

The measure says that when a driver is an illegal alien or “may be reasonably suspected of being an illegal alien” police can impound the car.

Opponents of the measure say the ordinance could lead to racial profiling.
Supporters say the measure keeps more unlicensed drivers off the roads.

Colorado law prohibits illegal immigrants from getting a driver’s license.

I think this is a GREAT idea.

It would of have saved the family of 3 that recently died at Baskin Robbins when the illegal killed them with his SUV.

That person had a RAP SHEET a mile long. He was recently pulled over for DUI. He later went on to kill the family with the same vehicle. If Denver had impounded his car, he could not of have killed the family.

However, Denver's not a sanctuary city - just ask the mayor!

dude with the DNC a couple weeks ago we had a checkpoint in our parking lot, you'd be AMAZED how many of our deliveries didn't get through because the people were unlicensed. Unlicensed to me means probably uninsured also.

The unfortunate side of the story is that the mayor is against this initiative, and has no plans of enforcing it - even though the voters said otherwise.

Illegals have insurance.

Thier insurance plan is to get out of the vehicle and run.

and, BTW, the illegal who killed the family at Baskin Robbins made a claim under the plan listed above - he ran.

Uh, yeah.

I had to stop and think about it: An officer may let a licensed driver take your car instead of impounding it. I've kept a few out of the impound under those circumstances. One of those vehicles was not insured. I was nervous about that one, but far be it from me to argue with a patrolman. :scottm:

What is hard to believe is that the City of Denver is passing up an opportunity to generate more revenue.

I'm all for it. I've seen plenty of problems with illegals and them not having licenses or insurance. If they damage your car without insurance that's one thing, but when they hurt or kill someone it's quite another. It's hard enough to try to identify them as it is. They could cause a death at an accident, run from the scene and leave all the dadgum fingerprints behind they wanted to and they'd never likely get caught.

I support this initiative 100 percent. Seize the cars, auction or scrap them and put the money in a fund for people injured or killed by these illegals.

This should be a State law, not just a Denver law.

Illegals..........:hang: :skull2: :hang: :skull2: :D :D :D :D P.S. If I could shoot a few I would...... :eyes: :shhh:

it really pissed me off when people would come to the checkpoint and be simply turned away with no license or insurance. WTF??
You can't catch 'em all but come on!

Sweet, more 2wd F150s with purple, mirror tint at the auction.

Hmmmm....... Maybe I need to open an auction house and get a contract with DPD...... That sounds like a revolving door kind of income.

They get seized, their hispanic bretheren buy 'em and take 'em back across the border, they get bought and driven back into the U.S. bearing Chihuahua plates, get seized again, sold again, come back again....... :D

Why did they have to make it a law it should just be a given. Deport illegal and seize vehicle on the spot, then get a place of residence and seize that also or what’s in it anyways.

Wouldn't it be nice if things just worked the way they should.
